I am not confident on my answer but I am assuming if you just let them allocate whatever random available seats then you need not pay for seat selection. Only issue, all the 9 passengers would be scattered on the flight.

Thanks for reply bro
But if anyone goes in airport counter without web check in they would be denied boarding? 🤔
For indigo i opt for auto selection and complete the web check-in . I will refresh the auto selection till i get the seat i like.
Since you are 9 passengers, i recommend to web check in at the earliest, seat allotment will happen after ur checkin most of your seats will be nearbuy. If you do late checkin most seats are filled and you will allotted very very random seats.
If its domestic flight, checkin opens 48 hrs before.
yes no need to web checkin, they cant deny boarding

I also experienced the same with go first. Which air line for you?

If you need all 9 persons to sit together, then you will need to pay for preferred seat. If you are ok with them being scattered all over, then just opt for autoselect. However, if you opt for autoselect, please be civil enough not to disturb you fellow passengers by asking for change of seats after boarding.
If you do want to check in and don't care about where you'll all be sitting, auto select will do the trick.
If you DO care where you'll be seated and still don't want to pay, do your seat assignments at the airport, where it's free. However, there's no guarantee choice seating will be available when you do get to the airport. Best to arrive early if you're counting on this.
