Since you are 9 passengers, i recommend to web check in at the earliest, seat allotment will happen after ur checkin most of your seats will be nearbuy. If you do late checkin most seats are filled and you will allotted very very random seats.

If its domestic flight, checkin opens 48 hrs before.

Web check in is not compulsory now. However they will scare all people to do web check in. So, everyone will do web check-in. Those who will have fear of scatter seat will pay. If u select auto select, their system is so pathetic that they will definitely give scatter seats eventhough children are there. They r making money by looting people. Only solution for this is, people shouldn't do web check in unless need special seats etc.

I am not confident on my answer but I am assuming if you just let them allocate whatever random available seats then you need not pay for seat selection. Only issue, all the 9 passengers would be scattered on the flight.

Correct almost all airlines allow automatic seat selection..... Skip seat selection.

Web checkin for aisle or window seats are paid, so no way all 9 are sitting together without paying. If you go to counter on day of flight, then also you will get the seats available with them that mught be scattered

In few Airports, Check-in Kiosks are available for Indigo. You can check-in from there for all 9 Passengers one by one.

That was during covid time. & now after lots of complaint, govt. Clarified this thing in loksabha/rajyasabha that airlines can't charge for it. Airlines are just taking benefit of this fear...

I have recently travelled and completely sure that you dont need web-checkin.. Just check-in while submitting the luggage and you wont be charged anything..

Indigo domestic discloses seat numbers and boarding passes a few hours before the departure. How can you see the seat allocation right after the auto-selection trigger?

If you need all 9 persons to sit together, then you will need to pay for preferred seat. If you are ok with them being scattered all over, then just opt for autoselect. However, if you opt for autoselect, please be civil enough not to disturb you fellow passengers by asking for change of seats after boarding.

You will not be charged extra to check in at the airport. Web checkin is encouraged but isn't obligatory.

If you do want to check in and don't care about where you'll all be sitting, auto select will do the trick.

If you DO care where you'll be seated and still don't want to pay, do your seat assignments at the airport, where it's free. However, there's no guarantee choice seating will be available when you do get to the airport. Best to arrive early if you're counting on this.

Untill they are in Middle seat and OP should offer them Aisle or Window, as per their choice
