Sensor is not the only determinant of image quality. The ISP on the SoC plays an important role. Case in point the Snapdragon version of the Galaxy S10 shot better images than the Exynos version despite identical sensors. Lens, DSP and what not all come into play. Still should not be drastically different ideally. Which mobiles you had in mind?

Realme 5 pro and MI A3.
both have Sony IMX586. so came in mind.
