I was once given chowmein Samosa.
While I like both chowmein and Samosa seperately, the Samosa with chowmein filling was simply horrible.

Samosa (or Samsa) is a traditional baked dish of Uzbekistan filled with minced lamb meat. It was a favoured snack of Mughal Emperor Babur, who was born in Uzbekistan and came to India. Potato (or Alu) is a South American tuber introduced to India by the Portuguese. Cottage Cheese (Paneer) was brought into India by the Dutch.
And somewhere during the last 200 years, the Portuguese imported Alu, sometimes mixed with Dutch imported Paneer, went into the Uzbek Mughal introduced Samosa and started to be fried instead of baked and became the universal snack of India.
Without the arrival of Mughal, Portugese and Dutch, Indians would not be having any Samosa.
Incidentally, in my childhood days , most Kolkata sweet shops used to sell Misti Singara (Sweet Samosa) , a variant with khoya filling, fried and then dipped in sugar syrup. It was one of my favorite snack.
