MI smartphones have a lot of security compromises built-in around themselves, especially in MI UI.
So, guys please guide people to do things that will make their phones compliant with security standards.

Hi… Can someone please guide me to a youtube video/webpage which explains how to do it step by step…
After using OnePlus One for 3.5 years followed by Honor V10 for another 3 years, I purchased Poco X2 few months ago and I find the UI pathetic.
I do not even know what is ROM and what is a bootloader, but want to experiment with my shitty new device.
Thanks in advance

OnePlus One user and yet never experimented with custom ROMs!!! Anyways follow the video by bikidas. Create a Mi acc. if you haven’t already and apply for BL unlocking permissions. For Poco devices the official wait period is 3 days but depending on the acc. privileges it can near be instantaneous as well.
For ROMs,custom kernels,mods etc https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-x2/devel.....

Bhai if you want 100% assurance then simply go to xda forum & install a custom rom for your phone model, many Indian devs there so always have support for Indian specific issues like jio volte, paytm phonepe app not working etc. If don’t want to try custom rom then follow some miui ad blocking guides there.

custom rom needs root and rooting disables some of the apps ( i mean some apps dont work if rooted ) .. how do u overcome this ?

Root & custom rom are different. Think replacing windows with linux & use guest account instead of admin account to run linux. Custom rom is operating system & root is basically running that operating system as admin. If you want you can run the operating system as guest too(aka custom rom with no root). It is just that people don’t use root that much on official rom because official roms are not designed to run root acc but custom rom support root in a much better say so most people who install custom rom also root it. There is also magisk which you can install to hide status of your rooted phone from banking apps but it is like a cat & mouse game where you need to keep updating banking apps & magisk as some update will result in magisk not working correctly with some banking app.

My poco x2 has gone from bad to worse after i downloaded the OTA update in Jan end.
Its 4500 mah battery lasts for hardly 12 hrs with moderate use, plus so many new bugs have come up.
Browser downloads something, it doesn’t show the same in top bar. Button which used to show background apps doesn’t do so anymore, and a dozen other things.

If I install a custom ROM, will all these bugs go away?

Thanks

Quite likely. For instance MIUI 12 for Poco F1 was widely regarded as buggy but in custom ROMs it wasn’t the case. Heck even A11 ones which are still a WIP and a little away from maturity are less buggy!

I meant… if i download anything, say a Pdf file or a video from y2mate or anything from any site in my browser, it does not show up in top bar like it earlier used to. I have to go to downloads section of browser to check if the download has started and how much % is the downloading complete
