What things did you buy with your first salary?

I had bought shoes for my parents, a dress for my sister. I had taken a Nature’s subscription for myself. It was my childhood dream to have a subscription of nature. Then I had bought bourneville chocolates for my flat mates. But most of them denied to accept it. They kept demanding me for chocolates. But when I bought for them, suddenly they chickened out. 😔😔😔 It took a lot of convincing. So, I anticipated similar move from my roommate. But Shoaib bhai was very happy for his 10₹ Munch. It was a weird experience. Then I proceeded to buy PowerAmp for my phone as everyone was super excited for it. But sadly my phone didn’t support it. It was double whammy for me. Within four days of receiving my salary, half of it was gone. A big chunk of the remaining half was gone for my rent. So, the rest 26 days was super challenging for me. I tried skipping meals. But it didn’t work out. I tried to board busses without any tickets with moderate success. Frankly my parents were lenient with me at that time. So, big lesson was learnt. If you are a salaried person then don’t act like a billionaire. 🙂🙂🙂

Almost after a decade, I would like to ask the same question, which I faced up on receiving my first paycheck, “Why did you do/what do you want to do with your first salary?”

well well well… I also wanted to spend my first salary on all the things that I wished for and on my parents n siblings, but alas had to spend nearly all of them (in fact first 2-3 months), on rent, security deposit, getting all the household electronics, kitchen stuff and basic furniture and all… Oh boy, those days were a different experience.

Fresher salary is soo pathetic.. 3lpa or even less than that since 2003… Companies ko batao inflation bhi koi chiz hoti hai.. Companies defend and say 90% of guys today are unemployable…

I too work in IT. I am sure the work ppl do here cannot be done by an unemployable guy.. it cos lies on face… The truth it.. They want to showw off profits… Build awestruck buildings and campuses and boast off to world that they are superior.. Even the companies known as Employee friendly companies treat employees as bad as they can to squeez out the last drip of blood and sweat of thier employees and pay them peanuts. The same way we read about how britishers used to treat indians before independence…

This should stop.. Few raise voices and didnt get lot attention to make anything significant against this to happen…

Please don’t post political posts here. Just tell what did you do with your salary/ want to do with your salary? That’s it. My father used to get 100 rupees as monthly salary in the late 60s. My father’s father used to get 2 rupees/month as salary. I have bought tomatoes at 2 rupees/kg. So, please don’t misdirect the topic towards anything political in nature.
