WhatsApp is updating its terms and privacy policy.

Key updates include more information about:

🔷 WhatsApp’s service and how we process your data.

▶️ How businesses can use FACEBOOK HOSTED SERVICES to store and manage their WhatsApp chats.

🔴 How we PARTNER WITH FACEBOOK to offer integrations across the Facebook Company Products.

By tapping AGREE, you accept the new terms and privacy policy, which take effect on February 8, 2021. After this date, you’ll need to accept these updates to continue using WhatsApp. You can also visit the Help Center if you would prefer to delete your account and would like more information.

No use other competitors will also follow all these policies sooner or later if we are using it for free we are products for them and they will eventually sell.

Time has come to accept privacy things doesn’t exist anymore in this digital world.

I’m not sure if any one realized, SMS is dedicated for promotional msgs and occasional/frequent OTPs. Now banks and other services are pushing msgs via whatsapp.

Apart from this whatsapp is also entering into other markets. Refer https://telecomtalk.info/whatsapp-health-insura...

Bottom line: We, the users are the product.

it is not user friendly in its interface tough, nor intuitive😔
besides, the older generation (who still think of Facebook at “THE” place where all friend’s, family updates happen) would not really transition to Telegram, once Reliance futher sells/ integrates itself into Facebook services and just like WeChat in China, the government/s😠 let Whatsapp become THE singular app for everything (unlike GooglePay, Whatsapp will simply add features … just like WeChat …and never make it easier for one to leave).
It is like people who live in big metros. even if they know the life (for an average person) is a rut, they never fully come out of the quagmire.

I never used Whatsapp but for few months (Feb-2020 till mid-2020) tried GBwhatsapp (and a fork from a site called jimtechs.biz which he named JTwhstsapp).
P.S.: it is NOT an advert or a recommendation to try GB or JT or any other unofficial software.
.
I also installed Telegram, but do not even check it now😔 (the servers often tske forever to send or receive files.
as also, like i mentioned… the intetface is a bit too cluttered.. for my taste).
Gbwhatsapp and JT whatsapp are paused/ in Flight mode since mid-2020.

WA is only free in India. For major part of the world, it was not free till recently. Because they need our data.
