Where can we buy good quality replacement power cords for laptops and desktops?

I am looking forward to replace a couple of old power cord cables for my laptop adapter and desktop power supply.

Any particular brands or links or independent online stores for this category of cables you would recommend?

Do you know if the popular laptop manufactures sell their own cables as spares separately?

I am on the lookout for the same. A few days back heard a sort of a blasting noise similar to when an incandescent bulb is fused off. I couldn’t exactly pinpoint the source but it seems it emanated from my laptop which was plugged in and sleeping/hibernated. A fairly strong burning smell from the male end of the power cable and the adapter was very hot to the touch. Acer adapters are reasonably inexpensive but the power cable doesn’t seem to be bundled.

I purchased the Gizga branded laptop adapter power cable from the Appario store at amazon for 179.

I bought it even though there were mixed reviews on the item. To be honest, you can’t find an ISI marked power cord for 179. So I decided to take a chance for the amount.

Now, I am glad I bought it.

The snow flakes who bought this won’t be able to use this cable, and they are the ones who is complaining in the reviews on Amazon.

Because you will need to do a bit of DIY to get the adapter end of this power cord to fit into your existing adapter. The have made the earthing female connector on the cord to the same measurement as the phase and neutral end points. But on most laptop adapters the earthing male point is bigger than the phase and neutral points. So it is practically too tight for this cord to fit into most laptop adapters, unless you use something like a small screwdriver to slightly expand the copper connectors at the earthing end point and make some more room. Once that copper connector gets expanded, you can easily slide this cord to your adapter.

WARNING: Do not forget to unplug the power cord from the mains before you stick the screwdriver into the power cord connectors.

For 179, ISI grade and delivered to the doorstep. this was a VFM purchase for me.

Last year there was this blast a quite loud one with a bit of smoke.
It was my laptop adapter so I immediately disconnected the power & thankfully laptop was fine.
Upon inspecting my original Hp adapter I found out it was just a short circuit and my adapter was fine it was just adapter cable due to bending of wire close to the input cable connector(which goes into the adapter) it got shredded and exposed hence both came in contact causing the blast.
After some work with cable cutter and some soldering I reconnected the wires removing the burnt part and it was working again but as after short circuit wires got burned up so didn’t used that cable again and its lying there as a backup cable.
I also ordered a Gizga cable which was around same price of ₹180 but costed me nothing as back then in 2020 there was some category offers in amazon which were getting combined with normal offers and in many cases cashback was even more than the order value.
So this cable turned out to be very good I am using it regularly quality is fine for this price and working good till now.
As said by other dimer my cable also have this fit issue as said the neutral connector outer plastic size is smaller (interior pins are fine and fits properly) compared to the original although I wrapped a bit of cello tape over it and it fits very fine now into the adapter.

Lucky you don’t have a dell laptop, they put a identification pin in adapter cable so doing DIY/replacement is very difficult.
