I am planning to go on a trip next month to ladakh. I have prepaid jio and prepaid airtel numbers. I am planning to convert one number to postpaid as prepaid don't work in Ladakh region. Please suggest which one will be better Jio or Airtel?
Also I had recharged on both numbers before both operates increase their plans. In jio it's shows as upcoming recharge which will start from next year and in airtel my validity is increased till 2026. So if I convert to postpaid, will I lose upcoming recharge amount?

yes, customers practically agree for the operator forfeiting all unused balances in an account, if the account is terminated.
Migrating from pay-as-you-go to billing/postpaid (even within the same company) still results in a new account (while the old relationship is terminated).
Ladakh still is a bit vague description. If any specific interiors.. then Jio may or may not be there and BSNL might be a good (back-up) option.
This whole rigmarole of disturbing the inertia of existing numbers can actually be avoid by instead taking an alternative temporary number or better still.. having a VoIP number.. which work anywhere in the world.. so long as the application has internet connectivity.
Unlike with Viber, Skype.. BSNL Wings (VoIP) even lets incoming calls come.. from conventional Indian numbers.. such that the person calling you would think that is is your normal ten digit number.
For now, might check if you would be able to make do for few hours at-least.. by using the internet of others.. to communicate.. and then locally arrange a temporary number.
Even BSNL numbers now-a-days get activated within hours of purchase and Jio, AVoId surely do.

Obviously yes you will loose your recharge benifits as prepaid plans don't get converted to postpaid.
You should buy postpaid sim from ladakh region that will be beneficial.
