Yes in winters I like to apply little bit of mustard oil on my legs and arms, it prevents skin from drying and keeps the body warm.
Although I avoid applying mustard oil on head, face and stomach.

Why avoid on that places any reason?

Mustard oil has strong texture, smell, taste and properties also is very thick, when applied on face might cause irritation and if you go outdoors in the sun it can tan your skin as well.
If applied on head and stomach will keep it warm so I prefer not keep a heavy head and stomach. toungueout
Also not sure what effect it will have on the hair some say it will causes hairloss and graying of hair.

The oil traditionally used and native to the geographical distribution, should be used. The available oils with in the geographical area should be used alternatively as all are having different content though fight for different deficiency. No need to use vitamin enriched oil if we are incorporating all the vitamins by the way of diversification of food weekly or monthly basis. These oils now a day’s available through different government affiliated SSG shops in my area.

As I am into this industry for quite long, my recommendation is : Mustard Oil that too available in rural areas not the packed ones which are present in super markets. And for deep frying like puri, samosa, khasta and other snacks use desi ghee.

Few pointers from my side :

1. Olive oil is just a way to loot money money from customers. Yes it is healthy buy only when consumed directly without heating like in salads.

2. Any raw non refined oil is best. But they are costly. raw Ground nut oil is available online.

3. It is a good practice to change the type of oil we consume every 2 to 3 months. Like we can rotate groundnut, ricebran, mustard etc

www.rajkamaloilmi...om

This is the only place where you could find genuine cold pressed oils with very resonable rates.
Once talk to the seller and you would agree with me.

Always use kachhi gani oil and local grown oil.
if you will ask me to rate, here are the same
1) Flex seed oil for north india and coconut oil for south India (non-refined or physically refined)
2) Ricebran oil (non-refined or physically refined)
3) Mustered oil (non-refined or physically refined)
4) Sunflower oil (non-refined or physically refined)
5) Soyabin oil (non-refined or physically refined)

Note – Never never use chemically refined oil because they are using coaltar (alkatra) for processing. And this is causing for cancer and other deseases.

Its good to change so that body doesnt get used to it, and if product is bad then your body will benefit from it.

I fully agree as regards mustard and coconut oil. Olive oil is not good for Indian style cooking where we heat up -it loses its property. I cannot stand mustard oil and so, I always prefer coconut oil. There are lobbies who falsely propagate that coconut oil results in cholesterol but those are proved to be wrong.
