Please provide valuable suggestions regarding which type of printer can be selected for occasional use for Black & White 30 to 50 pages print monthly.
Whether should go for ink tank, ink jet, laser? All in one printer or single function? Kindly consider following points also:
# Cost of print per page
# Cost of Replacement supplies and Refilling.
# Other maintenance cost if any.
Searched previous posts regarding it but not found any post having proper info. General opinion from google search is to go with ink tank which is costing 10 to 20 paisa per print and it can refilled easily with ink bottle.
Brand and Model suggestions are also preferred.
avoid Ink cartridge printers
Thanks @pratikkry , here @mas143forever has recommanded Ink Tub printer which is different than ink cartridge
Hp 410….is it a right decision for occasional use?
Has anyone used Brother DCP-L2541DW ….It checks all boxes, wifi, laser printer, adf scanner, legal paper support 4 star review on amazon and flipkart. However I see very bad reviews on mouth shut and complaints about jam issues. Please let me know if this or HP Laserjet Pro M126nw is better buy.

inkjet is fine for occasional print..do some research if that printer you are buying support ink refilling it will save some money… wi-fi printer is handy but if you have a wifi router you can still convert a normal printer in to wifi printing capacity
How ? Please explain
HP LaserJet MFP 1005
Don’t buy canon e560.
Suggest all in one printer under 17k
Catridge/ink price should be reasonable
Get an ink tank. Frankly it will not ask for refills and will last atleast 5 years without service
Laserjet printer anytime…
not to worry about ink
Best for frequent usage
Any suggestion on printer with small in size for occasional use with xerox/scan and wifi option. At home I don’t have specific place for printer and looking to take printout when required for my kids education purpose and displace after taking printout.
Any suggestion on printer which easily portable, even kids.
I am using this. Good option.
Hp 1050 ankh band karke le lo
i have the same printer hp 1050 j410 , its cartridge is so costly around 800 Rs. and print around 50-60 pages around, and it cost Rs. 7 per page
V.Helpful thread
Printers are only doing printing. Nothing else. So it’s just a waste to have a printer.
Occasional ke liye paaaan paraaaaag
If you can find HP 1115 Ink Advantage Deskjet Printer at around 3k then it could be a reasonably good buy for occasional usage even with new Ink Advantage cartridges later on!
I use printer occasionally. My experience with inkjet cartridge printer was bad. So, I would suggest ink tank printer even if it costs more.
I had HP Deskjet 1510 which is an all-in-one with scan, copy & print. Probably around 2 to 3K when I bought. Their cartridges used to cost around Rs. 500. Company claimed 120 pages for black ink; but in fact, I got around 50 pages only. And colour cartridges are the worst. Ink got dried up, I think. It stopped printing colour and printed only in green I had installed a new black ink cartridge and didn’t use it for around 6 months. HP software says ink is full, but print out will be only blank. Googled and tried few steps to clean cartridge and no use. Now, printer is useless. I didn’t want to waste money on buying new cartridges.
Now, I bought a new ink tank printer itself. About scanning & copying (xerox), that was a rare use for me. Scanning is easier with mobile apps. Earlier camscanner and now, switched to microsoft lens. So, now I have a single function printer (without scan & copy). Its Canon Pixma G1020 costed Rs.10K. VFM. And I thought of using Google cloud print for printing from mobile (wireless). But came to know that Google stopped it Tried few alternatives. Mobility Print seemed good free option, but it stopped working after first time. There was Ezeep but it needs credit card; don’t want to risk. Anyone got suggestions on making my USB printer wireless?
If you are having wifi router with usb port than search on youtube you will get solution.

Go for HP 1020 . Purchased back in 2005 or 2006. still going perfectly fine without any issues . Occasional use . Refilled powder once . And no other expenses
In all cases I will recommend only Laser Printer (avoid Inkjet)
Choose from any cheapest model of HP or Canon.
I am using Canon MG3070 inkjet from last 3 months. Works perfect so far. I got it from Reliance digital in INR 4000. The package contains 1 black & 1 color cartridge which holds very less ink(say 50-60 pages). You can either refill it or get new cartridge for 600(black one). Its wifi, so you can print from mobile or computer from anywhere in range.
I’m using epson 3150 wifi printer.. so far no issues.. 4 bottles of ink costs approx 800 and company claims 7000 black and approx 5000 color printouts…
using it for past 1 month almost and printed approx 300 pages… only once some of the pages came half printed else working fine…
Please suggest printer with mobile wifi print, without connecting to computer
I don’t think for occasionanl use cost of print per page matters!
Get a multi function color printer with wifi
Ink tank is best for home and occasional use. Recently bought canon 3010. It’s really good. In built wifi makes easier by printing with mobile and pc
Please do not waste your money on printers, if it is for occasional use. Please take the printouts from shops which is very cheaper as the dimer papa_kancha said.
If you have money to spend, please go with ink tank printer (Durable than Deskjet printers, less maintenance cost and multifunction program) or laser printer (durable and almost zero maintenance cost, but you will get only monochrome prints).
Please do not go with low cost Deskjet printers which uses pair of ink cartridges (1 black and 1 color) which is expensive and it dries quickly if you do not use it very often, then you may need to refill them or replace them, also the cost of one printout is more than taking the printouts outside.
The cost of new set of cartridge is around 1.5k (you can take up to 400 prints), and it comes to refilling, the cost would be around Rs.500/- for both color and black (you can take up to 200 prints, if you take frequent prints, if you take less printouts and leave it idle, the cartridges will dry and you may end up refilling again).
Some people charge around Rs.300/- for refilling both black and color, but it will not last for long, it will give only less printouts.
I have a Deskjet printer which I bought for very less cost (around Rs.3000/- in a sale) in my home and had very bad experience with it by refilling and replacing cartridges.
Hope it helps.
Go for a canon g4010
I’m using canon 3010 wifi all in printer. Its was very good. I use weekly once once. Inks are not getting dried. It has wifi so I can print from mobile, lap.
I have canon lbp2900 model. Earlier it was working fine, now all of sudden windows 10 laptop is unable to detect printer. I have tried to install drivers(as provided with CD), but no use. Can someone guide?
Don’t make him a scapegoat.
He said OCCASIONAL uses.
You’re suggesting him to buy a laser printer ? Seriously?
