I am thinking to buy dell XPS laptop worth nearly 83K. My credit card limit is 45K. If I add additional 38K to my card, will I be charged for over limit spending?

Have done this with HDFC, ICICI many times didn’t get charged but recently I have heard instances where SBI charged overlimit fees for this. Better to wait for others confirmation as well
38k is a huge amount o.O
In my amazon icici credit card… My limit is 50k. And added extra 6k to credit card.. Tried buying laptop worth 56k.. transaction is getting declined… Not accepting to purchase…
So added 6k to amazon wallet from cc and paid remaining amount 50k using credit card…
Since my credit limit is 50k… Unable to purchase higher amount in single payment.
For Ur Issued Card… Pls Confirm With Customer Care Before Making Purchase 83k In Single Attempt.
SBI charged me 500+gst for spending overlimit last month.
Wahi to…. mein bhi wahi keh reha hoon…
.
One silver lining… I called cc and yelled at them… since over limit was only rs300, they reversed charges..
Best is to get it confirmed from your credit card issuing bank’s customer care.
Forget about getting anything meaningful from sbi card customer care at least, best you will get is a copy paste of entire T&C of the card & worst they will not even be able to understand what exactly is the query.
Write to your card provider and get a written authorization. The transaction won’t likely go through, its way beyond your limit.
No harm in getting a written authorization and trying. Keep in mind you won’t get any reward points for the amount beyond your credit limit.
I think this will not work because most probably transaction decline due to lower limit.
Some Credit card allow only small amount like 1-2k above limit even after advance payment.
Alternatively: Add 38k amazon gift card and rest you can pay using hdfc
For sbi, users here have confirmed in the past(incl myself) that adding money in advance can be used to make a transaction much larger than card limit(I added 30k to my 14k limit card to make a 28k transaction in last year bbd sale in oct). ICICI also does similar I think based on some comments here. Not sure how this works now after new rules/changes.
I am late to reply on this.. also you may have already gotten the answer as I did not go through all the responses..
If you want to spend 83K on a card of 45K limit, first add the difference onto the card.. only after the add reflects on your card, you may use it to spend 83K
Icici and Sbi doesn’t charge.
Don’t know about Hdfc.
