Cheap backup smartphone with long battery life

I have a smartphone that is gasping its last in terms of battery life, being 4 years old. I am waiting for next year flagship releases. However, my present phone is becoming extremely unreliable, swapping batteries is not an option.

Hence, I’d like to purchase a backup smart phone which has long battery life, and which does not burn the cash earmarked for a better phone next year, maybe in the sub – 9K range.

Could someone kindly suggest such a phone?
