As you guessed, the next category is about movie releases. With PayTM, PVR Cinemas and BookMyShow still offering up to Rs 300 off running among many other offers for movies, of course you must avail these offers, but then arises the question, what movies are showing currently. So here is a list of the releases of this January:

1) Raees: Action, Crime, Drama
You make your own destiny; this is what you learn from Raees. A witty boy who builds an entire empire for himself. He may have had humble beginnings on the streets of Gujarat, however as he grew older, he began commanding gangsters and hosting and financing all sorts of illegal activities. When police officer Majmudar catches wind of this, his no-crime policy won’t let him back off till he stops the illegal activities masterminded by Raees. The two soon lock horns in encounters where one tries to catch the other while the other is always a few steps ahead. This movie starring Shah Rukh Khan is a 2 hours 22 minutes long movie and was released on 25th January in Hindi with a UA certificate, currently running very well in theatres near you.

2) Kaabil: Action, Drama, Thriller
Rohan, a person who has lived in the darkness all his life due to his blindness manages to make a career as a dubbing artist and longs for his happy ever after ending with a girl of his dreams. His wish one day comes true when he meets Supriya, and he wins her over by being his humble and positive thinking self. They get married and start living as though there was nothing else left to achieve in life, till one fateful day, after a devastating incident, Supriya leaves Rohan forever. Eventually when he finds out the reason to this, in his rage he sets out to destroy the men who destroyed everything he lived for/ With his blindness against him, he is at a disadvantage, however there is no changing his mind now. This movie starring Hrithik Roshan is a 2 hours 19 minutes long movie and was released on 25th January in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu with a UA certificate, currently running very well in theatres near you.

3) xXx: Return Of Xander Cage (3D): Action, Adventure
In this sequel, when Xander Cage finds out that his old friend Gibins had died trying to save the world from a deadly weapon, to avenge him, Xander accepts a mission and becomes a government operative to recover the destructive weapon before it causes catastrophic damage. This movie starring Vin Diesel and Deepika Padukone is a 1 hour 48 minutes in duration and was released on 14th January in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telegu with a UA certificate, currently running in theatres near you.

4) La La Land: Drama, Musical, Romance
Los Angelos, a city much like Mumbai when it comes to being a dream killer, has got an aspiring actress and a struggling jazz musician cutting corners to survive and make something of themselves and how they soon discover more than what they hoped for, together. This 2 hours 10 minutes movie was released in English with an A certificate, currently running in selected cinemas.

5) The Founder: Biography, Drama, History
The true story of the origins of McDonalds; the story of how a hardworking salesman from Illinois named Ray Kroc encounters Mac and Dick McDonald(The McDonald Brothers) and takes over their burger operations to then raise it to it’s full potential as a fast food restaurant chain and earn billions of dollars in the process. This 1 hour 57 minutes movie was released on 20th January in English with a UA certificate, currently running in theatres near you.

An intergalactic journey with thousands of people asleep in hibernation pods for 120 years till they reach the new planet, or so was the plan. When forced out of hibernation mere 30 years into it due to a malfunction in the ship, what can two mere passengers do with impending destruction and the lives of countless others at stake. This 2 hours 10 minutes movie was released on 6th January in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telegu with a UA certificate, currently running in selected cinemas.

7) Moana (3D): Animated, Adventure, Comedy
When Moana learns the truth about her people being voyagers and not settlers, she sets sail to find demigod Maui. With him finally on her side, she plans to return the Heart of Tefiti to stop the darkness from spreading across the world. On this journey Moana seeks to find more about her own identity, and ends up saving her people from the plague brought by the darkness and also makes a loyal friend. Voice-over of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as Maui. This 1 hours 48 minutes movie is released in English and Hindi with a U certificate, currently running in selected cinemas.

  2. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King – Venture through the lands on your journey O’ King, enjoy your adventurous travels in story mode with multiple endings and fast forward feature to skip random battles. This video game was launched on Nintendo 3DS on 20th January.
  3. Gravity Rush 2 – The sequel to the fan famous ‘Gravity Rush’, where the main addition to this sequel is the new gravity modes which you can use on your game character Kat. Don’t forget to check out the preview, demo and the 17 minute animation video which bridges the gap between both this version and its prequel. This video game was launched on PlayStation 4 on 20th January.
  4. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue – A game designed as a combination of the original ‘Kingdom Heart’ and ‘Birth By Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage’ , this comes out as the prologue to the final game of the series destined to end with ‘Kingdom Heart 3’, of which trailers are already making rounds online. This video game was launched on PlayStation 4 on 24th January.
  5. Resident Evil 7:Biohazard – Before the final movie could come out later this year, the famous video game company Capcom has launched the Resident evil game in first person game play mode. This video game was launched on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on 24th January.
  6. Tales of Berseria – An action packed adventure fighting game with some wicked fast paced sword fighting and powerful bosses to keep you glued to your joysticks within ten minutes of game play. This video game was launched on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC on 24th January.
  7. Yakuza 0 – The famous video game company Sega has designed this game, set in the late 1980s where the Yakuza rule over the city of Tokyo. Survive your way through the harsh, thug life and handle your business smoothly. This video game was launched on PlayStation 4 on 24th January.
  8. Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories – Sequel to the original ’Disgaea: Hour of Darkness’, this is a strategic first player rpg(role playing game), which is compatible with more operating systems like MAC and Stream machines unlike its prequel. This video game was launched on Linux, MacOS and Windows PC on 30th January.
  9. Double Dragon 4 – Game developer Arc System Works bought the rights to Double Dragon series in 2015, and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original ‘Double Dragon’ have launched yet another sequel to the fighting arcade game, a whole 27 years later. Unfortunately Arc System Works announced that there will be a delay in the launch of their PS4 version in some countries, however it is available for Windows PC via steam powered from 31st January.
  10. Digimon World: Next Order – When you find yourself trapped in the Digimon World which has been taken over by Machinedramons, your only option is to team up with Digimon to defeat the Machinedramons and find your way back home. This video game was launched on PlayStation 4 on 31st January.
