1. Express your gratitude to a freedom fighter whose life has inspired you in some way.
Write or dedicate something to your favourite freedom fighter.

I admire Rani Laxmibai (Rani of Jhansi) who was a great warrior and sacrificed her life for our country. I remember being taught and told about Rani Laxmibai in one of my history books and she was among the few women warriors who stood against the very powerful British army though her army was not so powerful and armed. She fought fearlessly against the British force carrying her child on her back which was a sign of a true warrior and she was not only brave but a women of great self respect who ordered her soldiers to burn her body so that the British don’t capture it. She was a very clever and intelligent women and her soldiers always believed in her and fought till the end for their land.

I have been inspired by her in a way that I do not bend before anyone who are more powerful than me and if I am right, I stand by it. I don’t care if I would be defended in the end but I never bow or lower my self respect as I know the truth is and will always be by my side.

2. What makes you feel proud to be Indian ?

I am an Indian and this fact will always remain with me till my last day. I feel proud of my nation as it’s a secular country and all religions are equally respected and honored like others. No religion is given more importance than the other and this makes me a proud citizen of my country as even though I belong to the minority group, I still get an equal chance to participate in any activity/event and get admission anywhere I want, irrespective of the fact that I am a Christian or not. This country belongs to every citizen and every citizen belongs to this country. Jai Hind!

Bhagat Singh was born on September 27, 1907 in a Sikh family in village Banga in Layalpur district of Punjab. He was the third son of Sardar Kishan Singh and Vidyavati. Bhagat’s family was actively involved in freedom struggle.

While studying at the local D.A.V. School in Lahore, in 1916, young Bhagat Singh came into contact with some well-known political leaders like Lala Lajpat Rai and Ras Bihari Bose. In 1919, when Jalianwala Bagh massacre took place, Bhagat Singh was only 12 years old.

The massacre deeply disturbed him. On the next day of massacre Bhagat Singh went to Jalianwala Bagh and collected soil from the spot and kept it as a memento for the rest of his life. The massacre strengthened his resolve to drive British out from India. In response to Mahatma Gandhi’s call for non-cooperation against British rule in 1921, Bhagat Singh left his school and actively participated in the movement.

In 1922, when Mahatma Gandhi suspended Non-cooperation movement against violence at Chauri-chaura in Gorakhpur, Bhagat was greatly disappointed. His faith in non violence weakened and he came to the conclusion that armed revolution was the only practical way of winning freedom. To continue his studies, Bhagat Singh joined the National College in Lahore, founded by Lala Lajpat Rai. At this college, which was a centre of revolutionary activities, he came into contact with revolutionaries such as Bhagwati Charan, Sukhdev and others.

To avoid early marriage, Bhagat Singh ran away from home and went to Kanpur. On hearing that his grandmother was ill, Bhagat Singh returned home. He continued his revolutionary activities from his village. He went to Lahore and formed a union of revolutionaries by name ‘Naujavan Bharat Sabha’. He started spreading the message of revolution in Punjab. In 1928 he attended a meeting of revolutionaries in Delhi and came into contact with Chandrasekhar Azad. The two formed ‘Hindustan Samajvadi Prajatantra Sangha’.

Its aim was to establish a republic in India by means of an armed revolution. In February 1928, a committee from England, called Simon Commission visited India. This angered Indians and they decided to boycott Simon Commission. While protesting against Simon Commission in Lahore, Lala Lajpat Rai was brutally Lathicharged and later on succumbed to injuries. Bhagat Singh was determined to avenge Lajpat Rai’s death by shooting the British official responsible for the killing, Deputy Inspector General Scott. He shot down Assistant Superintendent Saunders instead, mistaking him for Scott. Bhagat Singh had to flee from Lahore to escape death punishment.

On April 8, 1929 Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt threw bombs in the Central Assembly Hall while the Assembly was in session. In jail, he went on hunger strike to protest the inhuman treatment of fellow-political prisoners by jail authorities. On October 7, 1930 Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev and Raj Guru were awarded death sentence by a special tribunal. Despite great popular pressure and numerous appeals by political leaders of India, Bhagat Singh and his associates were hanged in the early hours of March 23, 1931.

Really A big salute to such freedom fighters. Happy independence day https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Proud to be an Indian.
Just think over anything such as dance, singing, education, food, politics or any such clicks of your mind that relates to the origin of India to the world. Place where women are worshiped as goddess. Talented and famous personalities birth is primary gift to Indian land. Happy going country even through world makes us realise we have so many problems in India. Greatly said by someone “Rashtra ko uccha uthana hai kartawya hamara”.

My Inspiration is Tipu sultan: called as Tiger Of Mysore. Free India. Freedom not only political but social freedom, economic freedom, cultural freedom, freedom from want, apathy, hunger, ignorance, superstitions. Having learnt the western techniques of warfare, Tipu was not slow in making use of it. He was himself bold, dashing, and a person of undaunted adventurous spirit. Under his leadership Mysore army “proved a school of military science” to Indian princes. The dread of a European army no longer wrought any magic on him. Tipu’s infliction of serious blows on the English in the First and Second Mysore wars damaged their reputation as an invincible power. A legendary ruler, he not only opposed British rule in South India but also played a major role in keeping the British forces away from South India . He was one of those rare rulers who had the gumption to challenge the British Government. Tipu (as addressed by British) defeated the foreign invaders in the First and Second Anglo Mysore War and even dictated terms to the British in the subsequent Treaty of Madras and Mangalore respectively. We can still see Tipu palace and summer palace at Mysore. Family paintings, swords, living area, dining area, court area, etc, so well maintained. Lastly whenever you have any hard some trouble from people, just remember Tipu Sultan and try to live life like a tiger as he did.

Freedom Fighter of Karnataka: Kutturu Rani Chennamma

https://cdn0.desidime.com/Placeholders/No-Image-Available.png

Here i want to share few words on Women Warriors of Indian Independence movement.

1. Kitturu Chennamma was the Queen of Kittur, a princely state in Karnataka on
23 October 1778. She was the first Indian Woman ruler to lead an armed rebellion against the British East India Company in 1824.

2. Chennamma was born in Kakati, a small village in what is now the Belagavi District of the Indian state of Karnataka.

3. In the year 1824, The British tried to confiscate the treasure and jewels of Kittur, valued at around 1.5 million rupees. They attacked with a force of 20,000 men and 400 guns. British forces lost heavily and collector, political agent, was killed in the war.

4. Rani Chennamma fought fiercely with the aid of her lieutenant, Sangolli Rayanna. She waged several wars against British and sadly at the end got captured and imprisoned at Bailhongal Fort where she died on 21 February 1829.

5. In the state of Karnataka, she is celebrated along with Abbakka Rani, Keladi Chennamma and Onake Obavva, as the foremost women warriors and patriots. And she became a symbol of the independence movement in India

On the solemn occasion of our independence day, we must thank Brig Suryadev Singh who removed fuse conductor right on time from Genda swami's missiles. Otherwise Genda swami might have destroyed india on 15 Aug 1993. Today we should also thank Mr India who saved India by pulling the white lever in reverse direction in mid launch sequence and hence destroying Mogambo's island along with Daga and Teja 🚀🚀🚀🚀 4 years before Brigadier Suryadev. What makes me proud is our brave Army which is always there for us, serving at the borders and also during natural calamities with their 'Never give up' attitude.

I’m inspired by many freedom fighters, but the latest is Capt. Vikram Batra, it’s not easy to see such a braveheart in recent times.

9 September 1974 – 7 July 1999. he was an officer of the Indian Army, posthumously awarded with the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest and prestigious award for valour, for his actions during the 1999 Kargil War in Kashmir between India and Pakistan. He led one of the toughest operations in mountain warfare in Indian history. He was often called as ‘’Sher Shah’’ in the intercepted messages of the Pakistan army.
During the Kargil invasion of 1999 by Pakistan, Lt. Batra (at time), 13 JAK Rifles, and his Delta Company were ordered to recapture peak 5140 on June 19, 1999 five weeks after the war began. Nicknamed Sher Shah (‘Lion King’) in Urdu for his courage which also doubled as his call sign, he decided to approach the hill from the rear, aiming to surprise the Pakistani defenders. He and his men ascended the sheer rock-cliff, but as the group neared the top, the enemy pinned them on the face of the bare cliff with machine gun fire. Captain Batra, along with five of his men, climbed up regardless and after reaching the top, hurled two grenades at the machine gun post. He single-handedly killed three enemy soldiers in close combat. He was seriously injured in the process, but insisted on regrouping his men to continue with the mission. Inspired by the courage displayed by Captain Batra, the soldiers of 13 JAK Rifles charged the enemy position and captured Point 5140 at 3:30 a.m. on 20 June 1999. His company is credited with killing at least eight Pakistani intruders and recovering a heavy machine gun.
Few days later, Vikram Batra was assigned to an urgent mission to recapture peak 4875. This was one of the most difficult peaks to capture as the Pakistani troops sat above the peak at 16,000 feet and the climb gradient was 80 degrees. The fog made matters worse for Batra and his team. In the early morning hours of 7 July 1999, he commanded a mission to rescue an injured officer during a Pakistani counterattack against Point 4875. During the rescue attempt, he pushed aside his Subedar, saying “Tu baal-bacchedar hai, hat ja peeche.”(You have children, step aside) and was killed in action while clearing enemy positions. His last words were, “Jai Mata Di.”

I want to dedicate his quote to him
“Either I will come back after hoisting the tricolor, or I will come back wrapped in it, but I will be back for sure.”
“मैं तिरंगा फहराकर वापस आऊंगा या फिर तिरंगे में लिपटकर आऊंगा, लेकिन मैं वापस अवश्य आऊंगा।”

I’m feeling proud as an Indian because of our culture, our love for the country, we become in union when we face external attack. We respect each other in my country. We die for our country. I feel proud because of my army.
“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it, it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.”
Indian Army
“हमारा झण्डा इसलिए नहीं फहराता कि हवा चल रही होती है, ये हर उस जवान की आखिरी साँस से फहराता है जो इसकी रक्षा में अपने प्राणों का उत्सर्ग कर देता है।”
- भारतीय सेना
