4G VoLTE supported 3g phone suggestion - jio (VoLte unlimited) + BSNL (3g unlimited)

739°
Deal Subedar
desibuddy

guys,
please suggest me a phone with VoLTE support and with 3G , using same time

Reliance jio – 149 – unlimited VoLTE calls
Bsnl 3g – 1099 – Unlimited 3G

1099 + 149 = 1248 rs is not a big deal, so we get Fixed expendidure, no need to spend 3k + postpaid bills.

I feel Bsnl 3G plan is affordable, as 3g speed is above 4mbps here, also 2 sim give extra safety or backup

My question is which smartphones support both in same time.

Offtopic:
i am sure both relaince and bsnl get atleast 5-10 % recharge discounts in some site or cashback, so that save further.

I considered using reliance jio for night usage ==> but 2 AM – 5 AM, so IMPOSSIBLE TIME (thats why BSNL, night speed is already double in it)

Alternative plan ::::
plan 1 ) 4g VoLTE supported phone for reliance and another 3g wifi device (with battery like jioFi, small and one day withstanding) so me and other nearby also use 3G, especially in car too.

plan 2) 3g phone and relaince jio in jioFi so i can install “Jiojoin app” and make calls free.

As JioFi or 3g wifi is small and fit easily in pocket so i think, thats easy to use and we can share with other family members as we do mostly…

Huawei E 5573
http://www.ebay.in/itm/231849...78

support 2g,3g,4g and 6 hours backup

Few Advantage of BSNL :

  • We get cashback of 5% or some offer for sure from mobilkwik or other sites.
  • here (in Tamilnadu circle) 1000 rs topup get 1100 rs (Extra talktime – first sunday of every month mostly) normally available is 5500 topup gives 6000 rs (500 rs extra talktime) – using USSD code we activate 3g from main account balance
*Night speed is very high, day speed is ok (4 mbps +)
  • Just like Jio, BSNL also dont have Roaming charges.
    *30 calendar days, not 28 https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Even I too hope so. But I still remember BSNL when it launched were giving 750/month unlimited 3g. One of my friend’s dad who was in the top management of BSNL during those days had told that BSNL will continue that plan though at a revised higher price. But they got a direction from ministry to pull down all unlimited plans. MTNL had unlimited plans till last year I guess and even that was pulled down. Hope now JIO doesn’t lobby for the same https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

@desibuddy If you need unlimited VoLTE calls don’t go for 3G phone. Using JioFi+JioJoin purely for voice calls will be cumbersome. You need to carry that all the time + battery backup will be just 6-7 hrs. Get a 3G Wifi datacard for BSNL. Most of the operators may announce Voice packs with free calls+sms even if is not unlimited you will be able to find packs that suits your usage.

yeah so best combination will be

VoLTE supported phone for relaince jio + Huawei E 5573 (4g, 3g, 2g) for BSNL 3G usage https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

During non-usage time we can switch off Huawei E 5573, that give 6 hours + backup theoritically

@desibuddy bro, i dont think any device will support volte + 3g simultaneously wrt data as the device will use only one sim for data at a time. for unlimited volte calls u need to ON volte+data mode. thr is no option for only volte without data.

@getready bro, correct me if im wrong.

You don’t need to switch on data for voice calls but you need to ensure that Jio Sim is selected as the default sim to use Data (I guess it actually means you can’t use data on other sim)

Yep still data balance will get deducted
VOLTE is something like data always on when you make or receive call
OP is looking for something to use BSNL in 3G mode and also Jio in VOLTE mode which is not possible for now

I understand that may not be possible but data will not be deducted for voice calls in VoLTE. This has been clearly mentioned in several places on Jio website. https://www.jio.com/en-in...ns

Terms and conditions
1. Voice is truly free – no charge towards voice or the data used to make 4G voice calls.

The support article that I posted ealier says you don’t need to switch on data for voice services.

Check this article

https://charge.co/blog/volte-what-does-it-mean-...

Right now it’s a bit unclear. Most media coverage on VoLTE indicates that VoLTE uses your minutes. And because unlimited minutes come with most mobile plans in the US, VoLTE should have no effect on your monthly bill. But none of the three major VoLTE carriers (Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile) clearly indicate this on their websites. And in fact, after a recent conversation with a T-Mobile representative, it seems VoLTE may use your data plan instead.

Yep, we dont need to switch on data, i havent read that part before

@getready but I will go by their words for now (who knows they may start charging few years down the line)

Even for JioJoin they say that data usage will not be deducted when on Jio LTE or JioNet Wifi – check the second bullet list item.

from their site, for VoLTE, data cant be charged or reduced, so it is independent of data and voice call is unlimited free, but yeah everything will be clear december last week.

have to keep an eye on offers for Huawei E 5573 (airtel unlocked are cheap in ebay)

@dealzeal there r only 2 modes
1. is volte+data
2. data only

so the op’s req wont be possible at all in any device as it will use only data from one sim at a time.

@dealzeal after dec u wont be charged for data consumed for calls made via volte or via jio join app as telcos revenue is basically based on data and not calls. the calls consume very less operations cost for 4g telcos.

@getready calls are of 2 types
1. normal calls via 2g n 3g which we basically calls mins
2. calls via volte and lte data.

both will be considered separate n u wont be charged at a time both but charged for the service u use.

thats what i am saying. If you subscribe to a data plan then calls will be billed as data
As there is no 2G/3G spectrum for Jio, there is no other option

In reality in comparison with all other VOLTE operators in the world, you WILL be charged for data consumed for calls via VOLTE or Jio Join

https://mikebeach.org/2015/09/04/how-much-data-...

According to the above article, for a 2GB data plan, you can make calls upto 5500 minutes

But Jio here in India is trying something different

http://www.digit.in/telecom/reliance-jio-terms-...

According to the above article and comments made by COAI DG, VOLTE calls over Jio network will incur data charges

Post the announcement, Director General of the Cellular Operators Association of India, Rajan Mathews, was reported saying that all calls on Jio’s network will not be free, since the company will have to pay additional interconnect/termination charges, and that calls made over its Internet Protocol-based network will incur data charges.

The truth is calls via VOLTE will consume your data, may be its the jio that isnt charging us for NOW

i got u bro but i said u wont be charged for calls made via volte or jio join app wrt to the below

So yes, Reliance Jio may have to incur the interconnect/termination cost of 14p as of now, but the same will not be passed on to the consumer as per the T&C of the company. How the company will manage to sustain its business model, while paying these charges from its own pocket, is still a question. But, if TRAI removes any interconnect charges, which have already been revised from 20p to 14p, RJio has nothing to worry about.

Even if TRAI does not remove interconnection charges, Jio stands to benefit over a longer term. What if Jio becomes the No.1 operator in 3-4 years? The situation would reverse and AVOID would have to shell out money to Jio.

Yes, calls will consume your data and it’s not free, no further discussion on this, they made smart move, now pay for everything for their slow service . But enjoy till 31st https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_twisted.gif

@desibuddy

Jio is pure LTE service. Even for Volte calls it requires connection in LTE mode. I have not come across any mobile that works on LTE+3G mode with data working on 3G. Again you need wifi mode active to use JioJoin with Jio mifi. The moment wifi is on, mobile data is switched off so 3G data will not work.
So the only possibility is getting a VoLTE enabled phone (for voice call on Jio) plus a 3G mifi router (for BSNL 3G) with your VoLTE phone connected over wifi with the 3G router.

As for whether VoLTE calls will count for data, in Jio plans only Video calls are mentioned to be chargeable against data. So VoLTE voice calls will not be charged against data.
