Hey peers,
Since I have 3 months of leisure time in hand and thus have planned to tour North East India, I needed a camera to accompany me. However, I was disappointed, as desidime didn’t have a dedicated thread for action cameras (yes, we have several for DSLRs though).
Anyways, I do request you to kindly share your experiences and feedbacks of action cameras. And since I am not a professional traveller, I dont want to spend much on it.
Also, being a jon snow of this field, all i can say is that, i need a camera to record videos of the scenic places i visit. TIA. and yeah, i can pay upto 10k of its really worth it, but again i aint no professional

You also need to find a talented seagull to help you on the journey and capture those moments.. If its all expense paid and room transport and food provided I might ask around to see if any of them are interested. I know monkeys are easier to carry around but they are just not so good at action shots or those shots taken from the sky..
Well, i cant say of monkeys, but yeah, i think my friends can obviously handle these action cameras on the go

Seems like a goof buy and comes with all accessories which is a big part of action cams.

Don’t buy Akaso, SJCam, Procus, Eken etc. They have pathetic image and video quality. Burnt my hands by buying Akaso on Amazon seeing so many positive reviews. However later I found they promise to give 32GB memory card if you leave 5 star review.
Later on I bought GoPro 2018 for Rs 14990/- ( https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07B7YPKQX/ref... ) and upgraded the firmware to convert it to Gopro Hero 5 Black. Upgrade in firmware unlocked 4k video@30fps, GPS, Superview and Protune. I am pretty happy with this and took it to my trip to Thailand. Filmed my entire Snorkeling experience underwater using this cam and am very happy with result.
Yi action cameras are also launched on Flipkart. It has Sony sensor and hence I believe it would be better than other Chinese action cams.
Reviews for yi 2k on Flipkart are just horrific. Go Pro is definitely the best in its class, but again, i am running short on budget. Any idea, when yi 4k will be available?

The next bbd will take another billion days for me to come. I think, i’ll have to settle with tradeoffs between video quality and price tag. Chinese products are costing half than the likes of gopro, but is the video quality really worth the price??
