Alternatives to PPF for Tax Saving ??

As PPF interest rate has been reduced. I am thinking what are other investments that can be done to save tax for FY 2017-2018 ?

Min 5 year lock in for all tax saving FD
till this govt is there interest rates will continue to get reduced at regular intervals…
Don’t be surprised if RBI hikes rates in the next review meeting.
Don’t blame the government for everything, interest rates are low because inflation is not increasing at a rapid pace.

@patrokunal7432 the current change in interest rate was for EPF and not PPF..
PPF rate is already much lower than EPF..
Best alternative :nirav modi.. 
Ps:just joking.. Don’t invest just for the sake of saving tax.
PPF remains the best tax saving instrument under Exempt-Exempt-Exempt category.
Next best is NPS, for the additional 50K /yr special tax benefit.
beyond that, if you are in 30% bracket, go for Tax free bonds.

NPS – National pension scheme. 50000 extra deduction on top of ppf.
NSC – National saving certificate.
Post office NSC
Tax saving FD in bank min 3yrs lock-in.
Lic or any other insurance scheme.
