Amazon account closure

I am writing the following incident for the benefit of all dimers. I see many of you stressing that Amazon is the easiest to return and refund which is true alao but there can be a manor side effect as I tell you below.

Also if anyone knows a remedy to account closure please pm me the way to get it reopened i will be thankful.

So Let me warn you all do not take too many refunds from Amazon as they have a policy of account closure by their so called "account specialist ".
I have a bad experience with Amazon USA as they have a shipping service called lasership which is one of the worst courier company in USA. Many of my products were shown as delivered to one of my relatives address and never got delivered.
And on a couple of occasions when I complained to them they partially refunded my money voluntarily. My returns were like 4 items out of 15 purchased.

But on one fateful day i received an email stating that me and all my associated accounts (even of my relatives in USA) were closed and they will not allow any more returns or refunds as i had “too many” issues with my account.
For one of my orders they have delivered an ipad2 instead of ipad air and now they are not ready to change at all as my account is closed, so i am left with an ipad 2 having paid for ipad air.

Also all my accounts with Amazon.in are also closed and many of my returns as well as GC cash back for Diwali offer has been confiscated.
Now i shop on Amazon.in through a friend of mine.

So in short do not return too many items or accept refunds for smaller items as soon they may implement the same policy of account closure in India also. So be careful as their customer care is very helpful and offers refunds but their account specialist are very rigid. Once the account is closed its very difficult to open a new account ever in future.

Amazon is brutal. People give a hard time to flipkart. Lets see them get on the wrong side of amazon

Edit: Nothing against OP BTW. Just a general observation.

Although you have not provided all of the details, it seems Amazon did not do right by you.

At the same time, the fact that you are using your friend’s account to still shop at Amazon tells me that you are not disgruntled by the experience. Perhaps they well compensated you with refunds and goodwill credits. (?)

Anyway, thanks for sharing. The policy difference between the Amazon customer care team and the account specialist team is good to now.

Your account probably was banned since amazon might have liked your amazon US account to your indian account. Amazon has a very liberal return policy and even thier customer care reps would happily offer you a refund or returns however there are certain people who do abuse their return policy and over the course of time their accounts are suspended and GV’s confiscated. From what i read online amazon doesnt flag your account on basis of number of returns instead they flag your accounts on basic of high value items returns. For example if you return low value products a lot they won’t mind however if someone is frequently returning high value products like ipad,TV’s etc would get flagged. Once your account is suspended there is very little you can do.

Amazon automatically links US accounts to india account..

means if u have amazon US Account, using same credentials u can log into Amazon.in Account and vice versa.

Is there a problem in using the same amazon account for USA and India purchases ?
I had made amazon account when I was in US and now when amazon is in India, I am using the same account to make purchases here.

I do stl shop from Amazon india because many of the products are very cheap priced as you can see the deals in Desidime. But i do not shop any high valued products anymore. As i said i have a four generations old Ipad air stuck with me courtesy Amazon USA. I purchased from same account from USA and India unaware of Amazon policies, i have started this thread to make everyone that how accounts are closed and how the person can be affected.
I am burnt but want to save others as far as possible.
Also someone suggest me how good is it to approach consumer court in India for the part of my Indian Amazon account.

Officially, no problems. But why would you want the purchase history, address, and card details from your US account linked here?

Privacy is golden man. A few years ago, when I returned to India, Amex offered to transfer my credit line here, but I declined. Segregation is important if you believe in keeping your privacy.

Also to tell you more about the issue I tried every possible way of getting the issue resolved including writing to their VP.

But nothing worked and one thing I very strangely observed is that no one in Amazon goes against the decision of an Amazon account specialist and nobody else except an account specialist can reverse their decisions.

I have lost a couple of hundred dollars and learned this lesson that do not buy too much at one time . Let one order settle before making a new purchase.

Amazon is brutal when they decide to be . So do not add too many GVs to your account balance and do not buy all in one go as that will at times result in high returns and refunds at the same time.

mine 11000 rs stuck on amazon for last 4 months and they closed my account is there any way to get my money back .. amazon.in

This seems to be a clear case of Returns-abuse. Amazon has one of the best, if not the best, customer service. One of my purchases was a James Bond DVD box set costing $100+ and was supposed to reach India within 15 days. When it didn’t the customer care offered to refund the whole amount or re-send the item. I chose to wait for another 10 days, as the item was with India Post and we all know how they can take their time with non Speed-post items.

If i wanted, i could easily lie to them about not getting the item, and get a complete refund/new product. OP seems to have abused the system too much, resulting in a ban and being stuck with the iPad2(Though it is highly improbable that they send a wrong item, unless its a third party seller).

As has been said earlier, an account specialist rarely reverses his decision. You can give akosha a try to see if it makes any difference.

I am not here to gain anything by writing here.

I am just trying to help others by informing then.
What is pissible and what is not is upto everyone’s decision.

I informed you about ipaf2 being stuck because that is what happened.

I never got a product shipped to India so i do not know what is your experience.

About getting refunds and other things i told already if your order numbers are very high there will be more returns in a small time and that is what they monitor. And when products are shown as delivered and not delivered anyone will accept whatever they offer.

You can google around and will find Amazon has this kind of incidences in abundance.

My aim is to help others in India because i know Jeff Bezos is not going to read this thread on Desidime and come forward to help me.
Spread the word and save others money.

I still ship from Amazon today with others account because prices are unbeatable on many occasions.

If everything good is happening with your purchases its all fine. I already said Amazon is unbeatable in terms of price.

All your Amazon accounts in any country all linked together, though the order shows up separate, the data base is linked. So as soo. As your account is locked in any country you and all your family members loose all the accounts. And trust me the way they track and block your new accounts is phenomenal. It is almost impossible to use a new account for shopping and all orders are cancelled as soon as they are placed.

I am still left with Amazon.com GV of $50 and dont want to risk it with new accounts .

You can easily sell that $50 gift card for 10-15% discount on ebay.com. I once sold a high-value NFL gift card for 10% discount on eBay.com. So I am sure selling an Amazon gift card would be pretty easy. Hope this helps. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Same suggestion applies for the iPad as well. Sell it on eBay. If you still have it with your relatives in the US, then they can ship to the buyer via USPS for pretty cheap. If you have already brought it in India, then you can sell it on eBay.in.

As for the prices, you will have to search on ebay(.com/.in) for the current market rates.
