Amazon Gift Certificate is about expire on Sunday.. urgent help need…
i don’t want to purchase right now… how can i increase validity of the same????
pls help me out asap.

Order something using GV & then cancel the order. Earlier this used to reset the GV validity. Not sure if its happening still.

I’ve never had a GC remain in my Amazon account for more than 2-3 months so I have personally never faced this problem or tried this easy workaround. But Amazon did cancel a couple of my price error orders (ex: Moto G
) and I noticed the validity of the GC balance got extended. Moreover, there is no harm in trying. At the worst, Amazon will refund the money to a new GC with the same validity (unlikely as I have never heard of this).

not into doing so, but i can say with certainity that @rajfor deals amd @DealSeeker are right.
all refunds are back to source under normal circumstances, on most portals.
off-late, Amazon has started dissuading people from the refund of CoD by way of a paper cheque and so they now offer refunds in the form of GC too (should the customer agree),
besides bank transfer.
if you paid by GC for any order and there is no revise payment issues, then the GC is debited.
so it is obvious that in case of a return/refund OR cancellation, it will be credited.
although they too know what people are up to and let such things pass, it is better NOT TO make a habit of doing so.

I once read that some Amazon customer care guy himself recommended this workaround to a customer.

the Quikcilver people ‘never’ let that happen.
the unique GC used from your account inventory once (say in partial too) is gone forever to that extent.
the ‘new’ GC (unique number) added to the account inventory is a distinct one with a fresh validity.

You are absolutely right, bro. That’s why I mentioned GC balance. I used a portion of the active GCs in my account (multiple low-value GCs were utilized) to place that Moto G P.E. order. When Amazon cancelled the order, I noticed that the validity of the GC (displayed at the top of the first page) was extended and showed an expiry date of a year from the cancellation date.

THAT is right bro,
but those are NOT the same GC (unique numbers.. say in my series.. all recent ones start of with 6014..)

of-course i fudged the dates and amounts here, but assuming there is no page 2/ next.
and these are all my GC,
now if i use say 500 worth of the credits, then:

> the 779.30INR UID starts reflecting only 459.30INR as new value.
if subsequently any event (return/cancel) necessitates back to source,
then QuikCilver (in the hands of an Amazon rep.) issues a new GC (6014NNNNNNNN) and THAT
would obviously have a residual validity of one year

how are their Telugu and Tamil support desks ?? I think they added the former just today yesterday (08-July-2016) Friday.
I am forced to select hindi at times and its not as great. 
[if i select English and am calling from my main number then 6 out of 10 calls land directly on the escalations desk. it is embarrassing if all i want to do is ask peripheral stuff before placing an order.
perils of calling them often. the system is simply configured to assume that a customer has some unresolved issue and thus the IVR bypasses phase I teams !]

calls drop at times. at times i do call up asking minute details before ordering any item/s. (there is no account verification or log in as i do not disclose it).
sometimes 2-3 times after verification to get details or to report things pertaining to an order or a delivery.

any such mix of 4-5 calls in a day from the number that is registered in their system, raises an internal flag that there might be some issue that is unresolved by Phase I and Phase II

U can’t increase the validity of a GC . U can read about that in GC T & Cs . Sell it to someone if it’s a large amount . U even can’t order a GC with a GC
You can buy any other brand gift card/gift voucher and extend effectively by 1 year.

@Spock seems you mentioned these even in that previous post since I have never been connected to Phase II, I didn’t know how that works. And I prefer mail mostly(time saving), use the phone option whenever I am in my village, was once surprised when the agent knew my name even before I verified my account.
I too need to extend my gv balance its going to expire on 5th august.. plz help
