Hyderabad: Online marketplace Amazon India on Monday said it has launched India’s first dedicate online Telugu book store with a wide selection of over 10,000 Telugu titles.

The assortment of Telugu books offers a wide selection ranging from classics, literature, fiction, biographies, business and finance, self-help, cook books and children’s books all at great prices clubbed with the convenience of getting them delivered at the customer’s doorstep, Amazon India said in a statement.

Telugu will be the eighth dedicated language book store on Amazon India. Currently Amazon India caters to Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Gujarati and Bengali languages.

“We have witnessed a phenomenal response to our dedicated language stores, since we started launching these stores last year,” said Noor Patel, director category management, Amazon India.

“We at Amazon.in are truly committed to helping our customers enjoy their passion for reading by offering them a wide selection with unique choices across languages, genres and authors,” he added, Patel added.

The Telugu books store has been curated in order to help customers find and select books easily by classifying them according to titles, publishing houses, genres or hardcovers, paperbacks and board books.

Amazon India boasts of having an enviable selection of bestselling books by acclaimed authors like B.V. Pattabhi Ram, Ranganayakamma, Yaddanapoodi Sulochana Rani, Malladi Venkata Krishnamurthy, Yendamuri Veerendranath amongst others from leading publishers such as Emmesco Books, Visalandhra Publishing House and Navachethana Publishing House.

Telugu classics such as Maha Prasthanam, Srimad Ramayanam, Naa Ishtam, Kautilya’s Arthashastra, Vennello Adapilla and Sougandhi are few of the many featured books in the store. Additionally, readers can get their hands on Telugu translations of English bestsellers such as The Secret and Scion of Ikshvaku.

“The struggle of every writer is to reach out to as many people as possible. This is especially true for regional language books where writers have little presence beyond their home state and readers can rarely find anything in their native language once they leave their home state,” said author Tadanki Venkata Lakshmi Narasimha Rao.

“This is where e-commerce players like Amazon are really making a difference by offering readers a wide selection of books in their preferred language no matter where they are,” Narasimha Rao said.
