my card was also blocked during prime day sale last year…when contacted icici cc they told me that because i had done so many txns on amazon(all were of small amount)…due to security reasons they have blocked it..then they unblocked it after i requested them.

Banks usually cancel cards if they suspect that the user is doing manufactured spends or commercial or business transactions on personal cards. Manufactured spends could be transferring credit card money through some websites or app to bank and in the process of doing that also earning rewards, banks can also put a hold on credit cards if they find out that huge amounts of gift cards are being purchased, in this case they can hold and ask for an explanation and if satisfied with it then they remove the hold or else cancel the card. Buying gift cards for personal use is allowed but buying in huge quantities can be considered as manufactured spend and card can be cancelled as the bank might suspect that you are going to resell those gift cards for commercial use. As far as usage of cards for commercial or business is concerned then that is not allowed on personal cards and it may also be mentioned in the cards terms and condition except if a credit card company especially has a business variant credit card which clearly mentions in its terms and condition that business spends are allowed, then no issues.
