I recently changed a new Amex card before a month as my previous card was not machine readable. I was especially using that in Aliexpress , Airtel money, Udio, Citrus, Kites and paytm. Though i dont doubt on Airtel money and paytm because i did not store my cards there, however i stored my card on aliexpress as i order so many things there.
Today i received a SMS from Amex that my card was used in uber for pre-authorization for $1 twice. After 2 minutes i got another sms that my card amount of $8500 was not approved as it exceeded the credit limit.
Immediately I reported the issue to amex who reversed the $2 ($1+$1) on uber and blocked my card. I was literally annoyed with this issue though its a small amount, what would have happened if it was a large sum of money within my credit limit.
I advise friends not to store cards anywhere in online platform as hackers are everywhere to steal the data.
Note: I never used my card for offline transactions. I also reported this issue to Aliexpress security team through email who said that they will investigate this further.
Further Update: I see this is something to do with our indian wallets such as Mobikwik, Airtel money, Kites, UDIO and citrus wallet. Further updates awaited.
Update 2: American Express CC told me that all the charges done on Uber are reversed and they are hearing this issue from so many customers. 4th attempt of $250 was attempted on my card but it was blocked by that time.

As per the latest update from American express, Some DB got hacked due to cyber attack like ransom-ware and our data got exposed. Uber Security team also worked on that and fixed it since they allowed american express card to be linked without CVV.
CC guy Particularly told me that its basically one of the DB got hacked where we stored our cards . American express team is also working on it to find from where the hackers got the exposed data. He told me that it was exposed online and from there ppl got our card numbers and did the transaction.
He advised me not to store the card while using OLA money also.

I don’t have any apple ID, apple device, apple account, no purchase ever done on international sites using IndusInd Card, by the way this is not an Amex variant, I only have visa variant of IndusInd.
I am not sure why I got charged this amount.
I got update from Customer care that this was some subscription like scheduled transaction pre authorized by me.
4 back to back transactions were done of same amount, all iTunes subscription of same amount 60 rs each in span of 30 minutes .. I don’t have Add-ons for this card. I am not sure how the hell this happened.

Any update?
Last night fraudsters changed my AMEX SafeKey email id and tried to do transactions on PayU. It didn’t go through. I used the card on Udio and Aliexpress and going through this thread, I suspect it was UDIO as the card details were saved there. Beware of UDIO.
Yes udio database was hacked longtime and that’s the reason they implemented security fix immediately without telling us.moreover without OTP how come they changed your amex safe key email id

Was planning to cancel my AMEX card for long and after reading this thread reached the threshhold. Cancelled today.
I think I can do without AMEX.
