Nod32 for me. Been using it since 2005. Although never purchased the licence. Their trial username and password are easy to find.

like many others have mentioned in similar threads,
If using Microsoft Operating Systems for retail use (possibly even server editions)
Then, depending on the version/s, Defender or MSSE are sufficient for most users.
[assuming not many warez/crackware, torrent or pornography sites are accessed and outside media/ flash drives are restricted to safe sources]
@Chamatkari-Baba recommends it too https://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/topic...
and so does @onlyrocky https://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/...
and personally, besides SEP (Symentac EndPoint Protection: for enterprise, corporate use) and Norton’s Utilities (for retail use)
have relied on Comodo and Microsoft’s in-house products (usually free for legitimate copies of Windows OS).

many like @oli.ferns759 @chip @viSH and @marketdimer (or is that @sharma_ji ) have faith in Es|Et (eset) and NOD32 too.

Kaspersky and Avast often feature on many shareware/giveaway sites besides one can get their free/trial copies too.
But most of the time the when/if the sand-boxing or T-0 protection fails.. it completely negates the purpose of having AV.

back in 2000 or 2002, stopped using any anti-virus for 10-12 months and things were still safe (never inserted unknown media: disks, flash drives).

You may refer to these threads or ping/tag some knowledgable members from there

there were few other threads with more/detailed inputs but DD search is broken and won’t help
this bloke @tipzi
too posted something about Comodo https://www.desidime.com/users/963848/posts?archiv...ue
in this https://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/... thread. [Microsoft Emergency security patches]
and kind of agree. many of those big names were always a drag on system resources; Kaspersky, McAgee, Norton’s.

Avast¡ is a fairly reliable one on the free/trial version, but Comodo’s products have ALL the features which most paid software has.
especially their prediction engine or flagging suspicious behaviour based on known exploits is an excellent one.
maybe technical whizkids like @TronGalaxy can tell more about sand-boxing
but threats where ransomware would encrypt/lock sensitive data or hard-drive/s and then ask for BitCoins/ crypto
was shown to have always failed on systems with Comodo’s products. They won’t permit access to system processes or outside specified parameters.
Basically any AV fails at sometime and if that some time makes one loose time or critical data then it is as good as not using network (internet) securiy/ AV.

Free need not mean substandard.

He (Melih Abdulhayoglu) always stands by and takes pride in their products and the larger philosophy.
if anyone wants, check up on his other interviews or podcasts too. the likes of Symantec, McAfee really tried trampling.
[since i find AVG to be one of the yuckiest softwares, have not mentioned it. Pops, out of good faith, added a free one year version on a laptop and even bought one for a PC earlier. till date many processes aren’t restored to previous state despite uninstalling/ cleaning]

though for certain reasons @cybertechie sir feels MSSE (or Defender too?) isn’t good enough.
