You cannot activate packs from main balance which provide balance or promotional balance. Only tarrif packs, unlimited packs and data packs can be activated from main balance.

Im also searching for that alone.. will update you once i find a way for it !
As per recent customer care feedback, they have blocked all USSD codes for self recharging temporarily because of new plan changes.

You’re right as per Vod-Idea but not in the case of Airtel.. ! In airtel you can recharge smart packs like Rs.35 (Not available now) from main balance (but the credit balance for that recharge will be as secondary balance with 28 days validity)

On Vodafone. I have balance and validity too. Still unable to recharge using balance. Customer care is useless.

For Airtel Recharge 23 using Main balance On Airtel Thanks app. But 49 don’t come with that option .Better if you use Airtel Recharge with 23 and do another 10 top-up for miss calling. 49 in not worth.
Edit:-Dial *129# and Select 1 for MRP wise product then Press if you want to recharge 23 reply"23#" Then send . Then send 1 as reply now 23 rs recharge Complete. Or,you can wait for Airtel for manually deduct the amount

I’m not able to use balance like with the jio.
When I’m going to last payment page, it is taking thru Airtel payments bank not from balance.
Whereas in jio it clearly shows balance option.

Tumare chakkar mera test Korte hue 23 rs deduct bhi hogeya joy joy joy

Dial *129# and Select 1 for MRP wise product then Press if you want to recharge 23 reply"23#" Then send . Then send 1 as reply now 23 rs recharge Complete. Or,you can wait for Airtel for manually deduct the amount

Don’t do it in twice at the same time and dont waste your money ! Airtel will never queue up packs like these !

as said by @mastervijay in other thread, may be its better to recharge with 48 for Voda/Idea or let them cut automatically (but validity will be 14 days only)

To recharge in voda using balance can try *444*amount# and amount deducted instant and recharge done. Successfully done Voda 48 recharge dialing *444*48# if anyone need 28 days validity +3 gb they can try. It is not for test results it is approved results. So if anyone gave need they can dial. I personally active 48 rs 3 gb internet pack by this way. Don’t sure about other pack .

So our DD friend @Vulcan took all the efforts and contacted Vodafone directly for a correct answer regarding the service validity and here’s the reply he received. If you don’t have enough time to read all this then scroll down to below at the end there’s a short conclusion of what they said.

All credit goes to @vulcan and I think you all should also reward him for all his efforts.

So Here’s the written transcript or e-mail thread

Question :-

Dear Vodafone Representative,
I have been curious about how to extend the validity of my Vodafone no. I tried to look for a min recharge amount required to keep my account active or extend the validity of the same. Below are my questions regarding the validity extension of my Vodafone no

Q1. Can SMS pack Z26 extend validity by 28 days too for my inactive Vodafone no?

Q2. Is there any below 49 which can extend validity by 28 days?

Q3. what is the grace period for no to be deactivated?

Q4. what are charges made by you on inactive no having main balance?

Reply by Vodafone :-

We appreciate you reaching out to us my name is censored by me and I will be assisting you today regarding service validity towards your Vodafone number

I sincerely regret for the inconvenience caused to you.

With reference to your email, I would like to inform you that SMS pack validity is limited for that SMS pack only.

Further, I would like to inform you that recharges has been upgraded from 03/12/2019 so kindly please check minimum recharge offers available for your number from My Vodafone App.

Regarding service validity (grace period) -

With regards to your concern I hereby inform you that, once your service validity date expire services of your number will be barred.
Post services expiry you have to recharge your number to extend service validity.

While post expiry of service validity if any Talk time balance remains it will be continues with your next recharge in addition with that recharge benefits.

Do Please note below points:

• If you do not recharge after service validity expiry, number moved to G1- This is a 7 day period after service validity expiry, wherein customers can only receive incoming (e.g. calls/SMS) but cannot use their mobile for outgoing usage (e.g. calls/data/SMS). Customers can recharge in this period with a service validity product to move to ‘Active state’.

• If you do not recharge in G1, number moved to G2- This is a 90 day period after G1, wherein customers will not be able to use incoming (except incoming SMS) along with outgoing services (Calls/data/SMS/VAS) etc. 1. If you recharge in this period with a service validity product to move to ‘Active state’

2. If you do not recharge during this period, the system will check Rs.20/- talk time in the account – If talk time of Rs.20/- is available Rs.20/ will be deducted from the Talk time and you will continue to be in G2 for 30 days. – If talk time of Rs.20/- is not available -The number will be permanently deactivated.

Further, I regret to inform you that you need to recharge your number with validity recharge to increase service validity. Regarding Auto deduction from core balance —I would like to inform you that auto deduction of Rs.24/- is a service introduced for all prepaid customer to avoid barring of their Vodafone services after validity expiry.
i.e. If your service validity is going expire and you have balance greater than or equals to Rs.24/- you will allowed for 3 days extended validity and meanwhile you will be receiving SMS regarding auto debit of Rs.24/- deduction to extend service validity, also you will be also informed about the process to stop auto deduction via same SMS. If you failed to make recharge within 3 days after recharge expiry date. On expiry of extended validity, balance of Rs.24/- will get deducted from your Vodafone account and validity will get extended up to 14 days.

Conclusion

✔️If you do not recharge then ₹24 will be deducted every 14 days just to keep incoming active.

✔️If no balance is there in your account and you do not recharge then within 90 days number will be disconnected

✔️ No other packs like sms pack will extend validity (Some data packs may)

✔️ ₹625+ per year just to keep sim active as per this
