For my parents I had goodhealth policy through citibank offered by New India Insurance.
Filed claims twice, both time it was post-claim i.e. I first paid the hospital and then lodged claims, with all relevant documents. Both times got the money credited to my account in about 45 days, with minor deductions. both my parents were senior citizens when I started the policy. I continued the policy for about 12 years, till expiry of my parents.
from my experience, I would say,
1. always go for PSU insurers
2. never disclose to the hospital that you have a policy and never go cashless otherwise, your bill get inflated
3. always file the claim yourself instead of through any agent, they make less scrutiny in such cases
4. take at least double the cover that you think is adequate today, medical costs increase fast.
