if ‘only’ use were for baking cakes, a conventional oven (or even OTG) would suffice.
we’ve had an Insala unit with conventional gas burners above and electric powered oven below. worked okay be practically converted into storage. never used as oven.

still for other use if one takes mucrowaves.
in India, the only options are countertop solo, solo + grill, grill + covection (3 in 1) variants https://bestkitchenbuy.com/what-are-the-differe...

the third type is suitable for their price/performance ratio.

if you ate enquiring specifically on brands or models then better consult the end user’s choice of features, looks for anything that might be in service for over 7-8 years (we still have an old “National” one which is over two decades old but in a rented out property. nothing except the “memron pad” ..membrane touchpad got changed).

now Panasonic has lost its core Japanese quality advantage though.
it IS still an option to consider against LG, Samsung.
all three have fairly good after sales support from brands and easily available after market (third party) spares, service.
some models of Samsung had been a bit experimental or not as good due to design issues.

i personally dislike the dial type selection and prefer membrane touch pads for appliances like kitchen ovens.

IFB, Bajaj aren’t anything to write home about in the post liberalisation era.
Godrej have come up with few models which, in our acquaintance circle, are in service for over 5-6 years and the families as satisfied with them.

except baking papad, thawing or warming up leftovers, very rarely to make coffee/ heat water and to reheat milk.. i don’t recollect using microwaves. (once for experimenting, had “dried”/sterilised still damp kitchen towels when in heavy rains clothesline got full).

Buy a OTG only a 19L will cost only rs. 2500.

I find no real use for the 25L and above because no one uses chicken rosette it’s difficult to clean.

Dont use a microwave unless you wish to kill all nutrition in food
Use an OTG, even convection microwaves use bursts of microwave energy in between cooking

I can just share some points from my experience, not recommending any particular model.

OTG seems to be more apt that a microwave as most recipes you get from reputed sources duly consider baking by OTG as well.

Do not go for large sized OTGs unless it has a fan built in. The ones to the capacity of 50 litres etc have 2 or 3 shelves and no fan will have very uneven temperatures inside. There will be two heating elements, one on top and one on bottom. My bajaj 52L ones has three racks and irrespective of what I do, using two racks at once will get one rack contents to overcook and one undercooked. If you have a fan built in, it will ensure the temperature is maintained constant throughout the oven interiors.

Better begin with a small 20 to 25 litres capacity one.

I was a noob when bought my microwave+grill from whirlpool. Later found one cannot bake in microwave.
There are 3 modes actually.
1) Microwave, 2) Grill, 3) Convection
You cannot bake in microwave and grill mode. Convection mode does the baking but like a newbie or beginner in the field of baking.
Only OTG is suitable for proper baking. OTG also can be used for reheating purpose, some also comes with grill feature. But OTG cannot cook food like microwave, which I don’t think you will require because microwave cooked food taste really bad and even not turn out perfectly cooked.
