Bank customers lose Rs 4 lakh, number portability turns tool for phishing
Data privacy is a huge concern as bank employees at all levels can access names, address, bank account numbers, IDs of customers
There have been instances of bank employees themselves trying to defraud customers
Staff of telecom firms too collude/gloss over fraudulent SIM card applications
As many as seven customers of HDFC Bank in the city lost Rs3.99 lakh this month in a phishing attack that is alleged to have been done with the collusion of employees at telecom service providers. Three customers of State Bank of India in Chennai also lost money in a similar scam, sources said.

This is so illogical, the telecom operator will definitely call and cancel the port request saying this or that, genuine request only the call center people cancel saying this or that and even if we say we will definitely change, they cancel the port request made.. I wonder if that customer hasn’t received any torture calls from operator in that primary number and alternate number
Seriously what kind of safety measures we can take?
