BSNL stops sending Expiry SMS now. Waiting to drain your main balance..

The used to send SMS a few days before and the day before telling you the Plan is going to expire.. But no longer. In keeping up with the worst of public utility companies race to the bottom as the most incompetant and worthless company, they have stopped most any kind of professional or even business behavior… Unlimited plans are not unlimited or just sorta.. You can still get charged for SPAM without subscribing to anything and you still get crank calls twice a day and SPAM SMS’s as well..

But they also charge you Rs.3 per MB… Which means 1GB would cost you Rs.3000….

Since you dont know your plan has expired, it is burning through your main balance and you only find out when everything stops after draining balance like in the evening..

You would think this message it pops up all the time would have anything relevant.. It DONT.. The amount was over 2000 meant to do a yearly recharge which they did not allow before. The dates shown are all meaningless and worthless. Would not be so bad if it was a loot, but it was used from PhonePE because so many accounts were being hacked. So it seems BSNL hacked it.. Should have just left it in PhonePE.. Might have helped in recharging half a dozen JIO accounts..

So it seems leaving balance anywhere including in your bank account is just waiting for someone to come along and claim it as theirs.. Its not if, only when..

The trick Airtel and Ideas uses by subscribing you to something and deducting money from your balance.. Now BSNL does it, they deducted like rs65 to get my daily predictions or something and I also get spam SMS for games, friendships and talking to movie stars etc as well as multiple calls each and every day asking me to subscribe to this and that..

All this is when I have been using unlimited plan for a couple of years now.

if you are using unlimited plan, why leave balance in main account? Same thing happens with AVoid so why single out BSNL. At least BSNL does not ask you spend Rs.24 every 4 weeks just to stay connected.

I wanted to get yearly plan and then found out they did not allow you to do it. But now they did so I added more balance to get it up to do it..

Only that this time they did not inform when the old plan would expire like before.. Its not as easy to find out since you dont think about it. The stuff it prints out all the time only gives the wrong info and it meaningless.. After what happened before I was extra cautious..

But you are right.. Dont leave any main balance anywhere, it is dangerous.. And is only a matter of time before someone swipes it.

Did I mention this time they did not send even a single SMS about plan expiry? They usually send 3.. And rs3 per megabyte of data? I kept checking the SMS every day but obviously I should have been more prudent.. But isnt that why we get unlimited plans and all that anyway??

In the US companies did try this trick until supreme court decided this was not allowed. No companies can not charge you unlimited amounts, if the charges get to be higher than a plan then that plan has to be automatically activated instead. People ended up with phone bills higher than the price of cars and such because children would get fooled into dialing and listening to games and such which charged a lot if you did not subscribe to it.

@roseattupurath12343 the information on the main post was erroneous back then (when it was posted) and is erroneous now too.
not just VAS or PV expiry notices but many other updates too (like about SR resolution) ARE sent by BSNL.

gee wiz.. At the time of th epost, BSNL did not send anything.. They used to do it before and not sure about now but I think they restarted. How can you make a statement for all just like that? That error by BSNL cost over over rs2000… The error a few years before where their server did not adjust for indian standard time from GMT cost me rs 30,000…. The BSNL tech had the audicity to tell me that because I also had TATA DSL, was why BSNL was nto working properly.. And you might be easily able to get a job with them..
