What is a “Dream Team?” Well, here are a few behavioural examples of how a Dream Team thinks and behaves… attitudes and actions that define the “best of the best” organizational teams.

Ø Ø Team members listen to one another.

Ø Ø Team members support and encourage one another.

Ø Ø Alternative solutions are raised and discussed completely.

Self-confidence

Businessman was deep in debt and could not see any way out.

Creditors and Suppliers were demanding payments.
He sat in the park, deep in thought, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him and asked, “I can see that something is troubling you seriously”.

After listening patiently the old man said, “I believe I can help you”.

He asked the man his name, wrote out a cheque and put it into his hands saying,

“Take this money, meet me here exactly one year from today… and you can pay me back at that time”.

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The businessman saw in his hands a cheque for $ 500,000…signed by Warren Buffet, one of the richest men in the world.

“I can erase my worries instantly” he realized.
But instead, the man decided to put the un-cashed cheque in his safe,
knowing that it might give him the strength to work out to save his business and to use this only in case of dire emergency.

With changed thinking he negotiated better deals, r
estructured his business and worked rigorously with full zeal and enthusiasm and got several big deals.
Within few months, he was out of debt and started making money once again.
Exactly one year later he returned to the park with the un-cashed cheque.

As agreed, the old man appeared.

But just as the businessman was about to hand him back the cheque and share his success story,
a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

“I’m so glad I caught him” she cried.
“I hope he hasn’t been bothering you much.
He always escapes from the mental hospital and tells people that he is Warren Buffet”, saying this she took the old man away.

The surprised man just stood there, stunned!

All year long he had been dealing thinking that he had half a million dollars behind him…

It’s not the money, real or imagined that turns our life around.

It is our Self-confidence that gives us the power to achieve anything & everything that we want.

Five rules to ensure real biz impact from training

Organisations—both big and small—spend billions of dollars on training. Yet CEOs keep complaining that the effect of training rarely lasts. After the initial high, most employees tend to go back to their old ways, and over a period of time there is hardly any visible difference.

Training is needed because either people are not performing as effectively as they could or because they need to learn new skills in anticipation of future responsibilities. But does it make a measurable difference? For doing so, five rules need to be followed:

(1) First identify the business problem. What is the real issue? Get clarity on this issue. Training, per se, has no value in itself, its value is derived from the business problem it solves. Hence, before starting, ask: are the right issues being addressed by training?

(2) Since we are solving a live business problem, the examples and frameworks we use while training must be relevant for the participants.

(3) The trainer needs to have practical experience of the particular sector the training is aimed at. Remember, you need a consultant with deep contextual familiarity.

(4) Using the principles of andragogy (adult learning) to ensure retention and internalisation of learning is crucial.

(5) Classroom training is just a sensitising tool. To ensure real impact, you need a structured intervention, with a lot of follow-ups. One must rigorously follow the four levels of the Kirkpatrick model, namely reaction, learning, behaviour and results.

One must also realise that pure training will usually not solve the entire business problem. The monitoring and reward systems and culture need to be in sync with training. Training is like money, there are certain problems it can solve brilliantly but many ‘fundamental issues’ require structural changes, and simply throwing training (or money) will not solve them. Training is just one of the arrows in your quiver to make you more effective and efficient. Ultimately, its impact will depend on how intelligently it is used.

Step One: Planning to Win

There are lots of steps and sub-steps you have to put together when you begin to plan your success, but a few things are foundational. Planning has to be based on getting a clear vision of what you want, because without a vision you don’t know which goals to set. Without goals you have no targets, and without targets you have nothing to measure how you’re doing. So you can see how important a vision is. Getting a clear vision for your future is also important because it plays a huge role in the creation of desire! Did you know that desire is the mother of motivation? Desire is the “want to” and the motor that fuels and powers sustained success.

Desire is important and vision is critical, but there are some personal qualities you must have or acquire to get the best possible results. As a matter of fact, there are six qualities: honesty, character, faith, integrity, love, and loyalty. I have called these qualities the foundation stones to any lasting success. You can develop each of these qualities in your life as you prepare to become the winner you were born to be.

Step Two: Preparing to Win

At first glance, you might think planning and preparing mean the same thing. I admit they might look like they are first cousins, but I see preparation as much different from planning. Preparation is a matter of equipping yourself to win with the right tools, knowledge, and support it will take to turn your dreams into plans that will make your vision into reality. So, you must equip yourself in the best possible way to insure your planning efforts will be successful.

Equipping and preparing yourself to win requires five things:
• You need the right knowledge to win.
• You must continually raise your personal performance bar.
• You must acquire tools that help you work better and faster.
• You have to practice your skills.
• You have to surround yourself with positive influences and people.

In summary, you have to train yourself to become a twenty-four-hour champion. Winning involves planning and preparing. Both are a constant-improvement, never-ending process. When you stop planning and preparing……….. you stop winning. Twenty-four-hour champions continually equip themselves to win!

Step Three: Expecting to Win

I’ve always said that when you have planned and prepared to win, you then have the right to expect to win. The ultimate fruit of positive expectation is hope, and it is hope that pulls you forward in all you attempt to do. I’m always hopeful and I never worry. I can say that because I expect the best possible result in all that I do. I expect the best because I planned my success, prepared myself to execute my plans, and earned the right to expect the best.

Desire is the mother of motivation, because that is where your motivation is born. Properly planning and preparing heightens your expectations, which fuels your desire and drives you to become even more motivated. Through the years I’ve continually heard from individuals from all walks of life whose lives were in a downward spiral—until they heard something in my audio products or read something in my books that gave them the will and the skills they needed to change their circumstances and transform their lives. They testify that by putting my simple suggestions into practice their lives were transformed. Sometimes the transformation was mental, sometimes it was spiritual, and other times it was material. Whatever the transformation, there was a commonality to the core changes they made. These people changed the way they viewed themselves. They became willing to make significant changes, and they came to believe they were born to win! What they really did is develop the skills and take the necessary actions they needed to plan, prepare, and expect to win!

You were born to win. But to be the winner you were born to be you have to plan to win, prepare to win, and only then can you expect to win. Go out and be the winner you were meant to be today!

Problems Opportunities

This is one of the many negative words that we use very regularly in our daily conversation. `Problem in the work place problem at home ½what a life?
What is a problem?

Look at this incident. A young graduate was tired of hunting for a job. After many years, he got a job as a journalist. He went to the office full of expectations and a subtle fear. The chief editor called him and said, `Today is independence day. A navy vessel has docked in our harbour. Navy personale are celebrating Independence Day on that vessel. Cover this as a news item for our magazine."
First day, first assignment!

The young man ran excitedly towards the horbour. In the evening, the other reporters who went to various places like the fort, collectorate, party office and so on gathered in the main office to give finishing touches to their respective reports. The new journalist was alone, sitting soulfully without writing anything. One of the colleagues asked him gently, "Why aren’t you writing your report?
`It is all my luck! When I try to sell flour, a high wind blows and when I go to sell salt, it rains! The very first day my assignment has got me into trouble. The editor sent me to cover independent celebrations on the Navy vessel. There were no celebrations on that vessel’, the young journalist expressed sardonically
`Why’, pursued the colleague.

`There was a big hole in that vessel. People who had gathered there were busy in the preparations; hence no one noticed it. Only when a lot of water has entered the vessel, did someone notice it. And thereafter, they were busy repairing the vessel. How on earth could they celebrate Independence day?’ asked the new journalist sulkily.

His colleague was excited. He exclaimed, `My God! That news should come in the first page! And ran out to collect further information on that mishap.
The very information that made the new journalist wilt in sorrow because he viewed it as a `problem’ was a golden opportunity for the other to prove his talent. The new journalist has missed an opportunity, which was spotted by another reporter.

Life is not something that happens according to a planned agenda. It is a procession of unexpected opportunities! In fact each problem is an opportunity for us.

THE BUZZARD

If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner.
The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air.
Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.

A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom.
