I’ve bought DSLR from PayTM. Took a huge risk given the reputation of the site but finally in the end got a good DSLR with everything working properly and functioning well. The risk finally paid off.
My seller was STAR TRADE from Kolkata.
I’ve neutral view on as you should buy or not from paytm but in the end mine paid off and I am satisfied.
Some suggestions:
Do buy 50MM lens too since the 18-55mm is good only for group pics and landscape photography. It gives bad results in low light & indoor photography.
Also look for inbuilt focusing motor in the cam itself, I didn’t knew it before hand, bcz it is necessary for all those lens which is not having AF-S/G in their name, you need to do then focusing manually which is a huge learning curve in itself.
Nikon – For massive options of lenses.
Canon – For ‘slightly’ better photos than Nikon. Difference is not much though.
Sony – Avoid.
Nice write up..Mr. L

Wow thanks a lot for your comment dude!!..
I am also thinking of taking a risk, but still need to get few more opinions from fellow dimers..
Also need to check about the 50MM lens and inbuilt focusing motor the which you mentioned..Not sure whether the Nikon D5200 has it.. Am a newbie to DSLR photography..
D5200 does not have a autofocus motor… so u will have to buy lenses which have

Thanks for the tip dude..
One more query will be, whether D5200 support AF lenses??

ooops I believe that is a stupid question as the current paytm title listing says
Nikon D5200 (with AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55 mm F/3.5-5.6G VR II Lens)
So this means the accompanied lens is an AF one and I presume D5200 will support it..
@anthrax.ut Please correct me if am wrong..
AS TOLD BY NIKON SERVICE CENTRE
had went to a nikon service centre for my faulty battery charger
they told me that nikon do not give warranty on accessories if the product is bought online
my charger was accepted since i had bought my dslr camera offline
by the way their service is awesome , received a new charger within 4 days
So anyone who are going to buy nikon camera
try contacting your nearest authorized service centre about this issue and then buy

mostly the seller you buy, should be a authorized seller for the products. You get invoice with the Seller name only.
During warranty, No need to mention them that we have bought the product online.

how can you hide the fact that your item is bought online
in your invoice there is always a SHIPMENT ID, logistics partner information (offline products dont need shipping)
moreover invoice is always a computer generated without signature or stamp.

From what i know you need AF-S and not Just AF
So here is the eg
AF-S lens

AF Lens

Exactly.. This will deter you from buying cheap lenses (without motor). I would prefer you to increase your budget a bit if you want Nikon cam and buy one with in bulit motor. Or buy canon. it has motor in basic level cams as well. This will help you reducing your cost when you take lenses in future.

@anthrax.ut Thanks for the links, understood the difference b/w AF and AF-S.
@pranav01 After reading several forums I am of the opinion that increasing my budget for getting a camera with in built motor is not viable for a newbie like me. What do you think?

Go with Canon then. There is not much difference between both of them in term of quality. Difference will be in higher end models. As you are a budding photographer (I believe) then you will learn a lot on any camera. Once you start clicking photgraphs in manual mode you will understand the gist. Buy canon with same budget.
