No expriance.
Not possible. JIO is pure LTE network. Will not work with 3G phone. It is of course possible to use a 3G smart phone on wifi mode thorugh a JioFi portable router, including voice through JioVoice app.
It is not supported in hardware, so no software trick will work.
This includes trying to change the preferred network type using ##4636##. Don’t waste your time watching such youtube videos (some even claiming proofs).

The answer to your question is “Not possible”.
The solution to your problem is “Buy a new dual SIM 4G phone with Jio in SIM2 and your present carrier in SIM1”.
An alternate can be “Using a Jio-Fi device” using which you can get 4G speeds on all your 3g/2g phones. (Through wifi).
Jio-Fi 2 (the initial model of Jio-Fi) is the best Jio-Fi model which was retailing at Rs 2899/- in preview offer.
Why?
→ Since Jio-Fi 3 has a low end hardware except for the battery which is enhanced.
→ Jio-Fi 2 is more portable and handy + premium feel
Besides, Jio-Fi, you can even use an Unlocked Airtel 4G dongle/Idea 4G dongle which is essentially carrier unlocked. Can buy from eBay at around 2200 INR.
