Hello,
I want to purchase one of these devices but don’t know which one is better and offers more options. This is what I need it for:
1. I plan to watch Amazon Prime Content
2. I want to do extensive phone to tv casting
3. I want to watch JioTV, Jio Cinema, Hotstar etc
Can someone who’s using these throw some light on pros/cons etc?

any specific reasons for this?
Go for fire stick
why not chromcast?
any idea if MI Box will launch in india anytime soon and if it’s a better choice compared to FTV and CC?
if u have superfast internet connection then chromcast.
otherwise firetv stick.
Fire tv stick is the best at present.. Have removed tata sky completely from all my tv’s
How do you watch tv then?
Jio TV or Hotstar or something else?
Budget
5000
Go for Chromecast. Already we have tv remote and dish/cable remote. Firestick will add another remote. To watch youtube in firestick in you need to open youtube app and search for the video how will you search? I mean how do u type in the search box you need to connect your phone or another keyboard. I know people will say its completely voice support and you can use voice search. It won’t recognise our voice for local languages only english titles or words will be recognised.in Chromecast its easy to cast any video in ur tv. Firestick is like all of apps and you need to switch apps to change content. The main con is Chromecast is you cant cast amazon prime video becoz google and amazon have fight but they sorted out. Soon they will add cast button in amazon prime video. Believe me i used Apple tv 4k which is 20k and used Firestick and chrome cast also. Among all i liked chromecast very much.very easy to operate.i suggested this to all my friends and they are enjoying Chromecast
Okay but I’m a little confused.
When you can cast your mobile screen to TV, how does it matter whether Prime Video is supported or not? I can just open the app on my phone and play content. It will be played on TV, right?
Also, I want to know if I’m mirroring my screen, can I start a movie in Prime Video (or any other app) and turn the mobile screen off and continue watching on TV?
I personally feel this is more redundant. Content being played on your mobile as well as on TV, double processing power.

My Sony TV’s remote is compatible with Fire Tv stick… No need to use fire tv stick remote
Its coming soon. Amazon prime video to chromecast. they are working on it.

Firestick has made everything possible. You can watch jio tv by download the required app but since it consumes lot of data, I cast jio tv via phone to my TV. I can also cast my laptop to my TV using Plex. I can do almost everything with firestick that I could with my TV with DTH.
Amazon prime doesnt support chromecast. Other you cant cast video to tv.
Fire stick got bluetooth support for headphones , speaker or keyboard mouse etc. Remote is extra in fire. Can sideload anrdroid app. Use mobile app as remote.
In all ways fire tv is better. Its like a full fledge internet streaming set top box.
Chromecast is more of side support if already using some dth. Youtube work best in chromecast.
There is no comparison between chromecast and firestick. Firestick is way superior. Googles hardware is usually not very good.
I read screen mirroring using Firestick doesn’t work well and hangs/stops very frequently. Can you confirm this fact? If mirroring using firestick works flawlessly as in chromecast, I’ll buy FTV
Yes there is no comparison between two becoz Ftv makes ur normal tv to smart tv. Chromecast is a casting device to cast almost anything.
@sumanthbhe Can you confirm:
I have only mobile internet and no separate broadband connection.
I plan to use my phone as a hotspot and also install Google Home and Cast from the same phone, will it work or does it require a separate router and another phone to cast from?
It works. But to use chromecast or a FTV broadband connection is recommended to play content without buffering.
chromecast is a casting device (with very few added things) whereas firestick is a full fledged streaming device.
they both were built for different purposes eventually evolved.
If i were you, i would have bought firestick.
ps: i dont own any of these as i have Sony Android smart TV with no DTH connection.
Still discussions going on?
I have both. Trust me firetv is way better than chromecast.
Prime wont work in chromecast.
Jiotv makes tv viewing totally free on fts. You can remove cable n dth.
I wish it helped remove internet too.
So, does FTV allow screen mirroring from phone?
thank you so much for this thread guys…….. made my choice easier….
Even firestick can be managed thru Mobile app.
for chromecast users Google places certain intrinsic restrictions
that they change only if market forces are too big.
the support of apps and other TV remote compatibility makes TV stick and TV cube much more user friendly and performance too is better of FireTV cube and stick
Screen mirroring in fire stick sucks, just so you know, I have it and it’s an amazing product but if screen mirroring is your priority then it will disappoint. Rest everything is great
Firestick hands down… I have both Chromecast and firestick… firestick is more customisable… As for remote… You first check out how much you are using firestick then you can invest in a Bluetooth/WiFi keyboard remote
Amazon prime added support to Chromecast. Now stream prime videos straight to your TV. Have 2 chromecasts, happy with them.
I am using firetv from last 6 months. Its full fledged entertainment box (android tv box). So if your primary use is entertainment then go for it. If you need screen mirroring as main feature then buy chromecast. Its as simple as that.
Note: BTW i am 100% satisfied with my firestick purchase. Already removed cable connection.
I have sony tv …smart tv….however it needs a wifi adapter kind of tging to connect to internet…..if i buy firestick then can it directly connect to my home wifi?
I am using chromecast from last 1.5 years. The only issue with it i, it need permanent/same internet/wifi connection, like broadband or if you are using mobile hotspot then same mobile need to be on every time. If you change source of wifi, you have to reconfigure every time. I was using BSNL broadband with I disconnected. Now I have to use one of the available mobile hotspot to connect with another mobile.
Does jio TV (not modded mobile app) work on mi box s?
Chromecast or firestick?
Firestick for everything
Chromecast for casting
Firestick lags sometimes while casting full hd
@Digisun there were many such discussion earlier. these threads will help u
