Clarification Needed - TataSky New Connection

Hello friends,

I’ve a small question which no body seem to have an answer to at TataSky customer care. I hope some user of TataSky can help

I’m planning to buy a new connection of TataSky hd. I wish to have a non-hd pack activated on a monthly basis say Dhamaal Mix.

Also, I plan to have one hd channel as A-la-carte along with basic pack.

My question:
1. Is it possible to have just one hd channel?
2. If yes, do I pay entire hd access fee of one hundred plus every month or just pay the price of one hd channel every month?
So if hd access fee is 175 per month, base pack is for 270, and one hd channel say star movies hd is priced at 23, what do I pay every month? 445 or 293?

Please only those people respond who have used this service on their TataSky and not others who know ‘everything’.

Currently I have videocon d2h and I pay 293 for the package I wish to have on TataSky.

If u don’t want to subscribe to HD Pack and want to view only 1 hd channel then tatasky do offer that option too with charge of Rs.45 per month https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Yes, even I m https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_eek.gif due to this decision because videocon already offering best price.

45? That’s too much. Is this price fixed for every hd channel is different for every channel? Videocon has few channels at 23, some at 45 and rest at different prices I think.

First, I’m not changing it. Second I’m not keen on keeping it either. I’m exploring other options. If I find one, I’ll go for it while leaving videocon still connected but with zero balance. Several reasons for this:
1. V does not have a toll free number. They claim to have one but I have not been able to connect to it from Delhi. I have to call up their std number everytime.
2. Out of ten times I call their cc number, I get connected to some random person across India about 6-8 times. I have to keep calling their number to get connected to V. I don’t know why this happens but it does every time I call them.
3. The base pack price has gone up from 231 to 285 now in just 2.5 years or so.
4. Their customer care is to harass people. Well I think everyone is same on that front. So no negative or positive points there.
5. Due to some technical fault they changed my base pack to a higher one. I lost four days of tv and several rupees in calling them even after pack was reversed back to original. No resolution.
6. I plan to purchase an yearly pack of their competitor. If costs almost the same compared to recharging every month for an year considering the discounts we get online.
7. During this one year I want to see if they will offer me the same pack at lower prices considering their connection will lie idle at my home for this period.
8. The only good thing I find about V is their logo is placed at a location where it is least visible and doesn’t take up much of content.

I have both vid and TS at home and I would always prefer V anytime over TS. Only after getting TS you would know that V CC support is better off. Also TS is known to play with yearly packs (they just without intimation change it to daily deduction). Other than these 2 I have always heard bad things about other service providers (Airtel is good but no recharge offers kills it)

[instead of getting triply confused, could have asked the apes you got connected to at 18001806633 to transfer the line to a human.. who in turn could have given you the korect infarmation without ambiguity.]

à la carte prices would differ .. like for DiscoveryHD it is 45, for your StarMovies HD it might be 50INR/pm and so on

much to my chagrin, family recently took a D2H for a guest room at one of our place. I’d say, having used Airtel few years back, their CC used to responsive till the idiots closed the toll-free 1800 and now its only accessible through a Airtel Sim (5xxxxx).
TataSky (though I despise the Tata group for some bias and genuine reasons) customer care, I surprisingly found is ‘more’ receptive and better at query resolution and issue resolution.

but like always in any CC, one has to connect to a human and not an ape or parrot

GhataSky people explicitly clarify that the rate-fix/ rate-revise scam measure does not affect bulk paying customers if they intimate them (GhataSky) after doing such semi-annual or annual payment, else they say that the system picks up usual deduction.

[i have saved called recordings of two such specialised dept. seniors explicitly confirming it on calls placed at varying times from different numbers]

also, due to some re-compression and relay of the signals they (Ghata) get, during the Airtel versus Tata days (in Bombay):
1] one could note a noticeable lag of over 2 to 3 seconds in Tata signals when compared to Airtel.

2] for this same reason ( re-compression and their own uplink to some INSATnn) it seems, even during tropical rainstorm, often Tata signals came through where Airtel failed. but my experience is from over 18-20 months back

the GhataSky thing that my folks might be using presently only has had the odd sun outage,, and on few of those INSAT migration days I’d hear them speak about some issues.
That apart the visit charges and other local things I assume remain not so VFM if we sometimes feel that problem was from their end, but the technician updates it as dish or STB issue and visit charges need to be paid in full. but this happens with all providers I guess, once the service contract gets over.

did you try 1800-180-6000 and 1800-200-0111 ?
if not, then could you check if it works for you somehow (trying from some other network than your sim might help. sometimes reliance, airtel are denied interconnect to call collect numers
[once i remember even normal calls were denied interconnect 7-8 years back over pricing/ interconnect revenue sharing fights between Telcos]

as for the number,
could you tell what number you are trying please?
on prior occasions at-least 1800-180-6000 and 1800-200-0111 have eventually got connected to human support (as opposed to ape support at times).

and D2H too claims to give price-lock guarantee it seems to those who purchase a new connection with annual pack or recharge for the annual pack.

Well ,that’s exactly what I’m doing here, gathering all ‘first hand information’.
From what I know, the reality of a service /product is in stark contrast to what is stated in terms and conditions, at least in India. So that is one reference point for a customer of what ‘not’ to expect.

I filled up their new customer form online at least three times to have them call me back about their services. Every time, they didn’t have answer to my questions. All gave me vague info about whatever they knew. So, guess they triply confused me.

Wondering if this ‘triple’ thing was a coincidence or you have been tracking my online activities. Lol

Btw, from whatever little I remember of our last conversation, you had Gray areas in life. I don’t believe you have moved on to ‘knowing everything’ in such little time.

haha nope. no snooping since the day i became.. err thats another issue.
it was a coincidence. actually I myself had to get this info and strangely my experience was the same as yours. three calls three differing versions of things (including annual price-lock and à la carte versus 175INR

so we are on the same page here. but the triply was in reference to desidime and its myriad views plus CC plus local users/distributor
