I am seeing very few people wearing masks in pune.
Medical items like masks and sanitizers have already become expensive.
Only people who can afford these things are buying it, else other are using cloth to cover their faces.
It is very difficult to predict at what pace corona is spreading.
We have different weather here, also the confirmed and died cases are very few as of now. (numbers can be outdated)
If we assume that India is in stage 2, then this is the time to control everything.
The maximum efforts should be taken to treat infected people at all possible levels to stop the spread.
If unfortunately it goes to stage 3, then all public transport must be stopped by govt, (or may be total lockdown)
It may create panic in public, shortage of goods, inflation (unavoidable)…
people will try move from one place to another (probably their hometowns), which can create huge chaos.
If people in lakhs try to move their places, situation can be out of control.
I cant imagine what will happen in stage 4,5,6…just hoping nothing is going to happen.

The real sign of intelligence is to know when not to give up. You seem to be intelligent enough to know what can happen here but perhaps too intelligent to not see that it was not preventable? You think the govt in 130+ nations in the world are also stupid? This thing spread in China stating Nov 2019, the only way to have stopped its spread worldwide is to have had China tell the world how contagious it was & that their people were getting infected en masse by at least Dec 2019.
As for your curfew thing, yeah keep dreaming a population nearing China with density 3x cannot be locked down. And fancy words like contact tracing doesn’t work because people can be asymptomatic for up to 14 days & still infect others in that time. Goof luck tracing 1000 unknown people some infected person may have come in contact with, using all the surveillance in the world. Also for surveillance don’t people give hell for something like Aadhar here, how do you suppose we “contact trace” without traceable ids?
There’s things that are realistic & then things which are cuckoo, you seem to be making things up like we live in a dystopia where the govt is more authoritarian than China & yet has tech more advanced than we’ve seen in activated carbon 
The best way to slow down this disease is for individuals to be responsible, if you have symptoms that are similar to nCoV get medical advice & stay away from other people. Most European nations are predicting the majority of their population will get infected at some point in time, the likely remedy to lower the impending deaths is by restricting the growth rate of the contagion. Our best bet still remains a cure or vaccine & of course one self’s immune system, we cannot have a nation wide indefinite curfew which is atm impractical.

There are ofcourse many signs of intelligence. Intelligence is just analytical power of the brain. So surely what I said and what you said are both real signs.
It required time to understand the virus and as soon as China understood it, they did a great Job at stopping it from spreading. No country is as capable as China in doing what they did.
Contract tracing does not work always. that’s why it will fail, the only possible thing to do is curfew or just wait and let people suffer like Italy and impose the curfew.
The choice is
1 – Curfew before it spreads
2 – Curfew after it spreads causing considerable mortality and morbidity
I never said anything about Dystopia or blah blah you speak. Educated curfew will work. You need capability to do that.
If 99 people are responsible and 1 is not, it won’t work. You see the society as how it is and intervene with measures that work. 100% responsible is the real cuckoo. Vaccine won’t arrive until 2022.

It was 100% preventable. The government forgot to see that Italy, Iran also had active transmission and failed to add those people in their lists to scan the passengers at the airport. A clever health ministry can monitor this and take simple measures.
Clever health ministry → a new term, I guess we’ll see that pop up here more often then. If China could not prevent it then it was not preventable, everything else you typed sounds more theoretical by the minute.
As for curfew do you really live here or what? Who’s gonna pay that daily wage worker who goes out everyday to earn money? Do you know how many daily wage workers are there in the nation? Who’s going to feed the 200 million odd people that need to get out to have a meal each day? Seeing & believing are 2 different things, just because you see something doesn’t mean you can do x or y about it. And before you say the govt should pay for these people → yes they should but now tell me who’s going to make essential things like your (processed) food, medical supplies, other daily need items when there is a curfew & deliver these things for at least 14 days or do I need to explain the term curfew?
We’ll see where it goes & just like you I also see it balloon out of our hands, hopefully not as much as China though. In having said that I don’t see a contagion with R0 up to 3 as something which you can just wish away even if our health ministry was clever & omnipotent like China.

The health ministery already published the list of testing centres and adviced people not to rush to the hospitals to get them tested (as there is a risk of trasmitting the virus to other patients with compromised immune system) yet this guy decided to go to the nearby hospital to get himself tested? Seriously?
A simple google search would’ve provided better info
