ABCD 2
ABCD2 is a watchable underdog story that surely entertains you with simple storytelling n emotion packed performances. Varun Dhawan shines as an actor. When there r tears in his eyes,u know they r real. There’s electricity in his body language! #ABCD2 Why Varun is v endearing? He’s a team man.He lets every1 flower. The super dancers get their due n Dhawan emerges as a good leader!! #ABCD2 Shraddha Kapoor looks glamorous n dances really well. She’s v likable. There’s a complete shift in body lingo 4m past films.Imprssive! #ABCD2 The support dancers r very good n also pitch in interesting fun acting chops.Lauren looks really cool n dances brilliantly #ABCD2 On the flip side 3D isn’t well done.Screenplay is ordinary n the film is long.Undue angles stretch the film 2 some extent. #ABCD2 All in all #ABCD2 is predictable but it entertains you for most parts n the climax sequence in itself is worth ur ticket price.Check it out!

Miss tanakpur hazir ho

Truth is stranger than fiction, and that truism can sometimes become the fulcrum of a film. ‘Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho’ hangs itself on a preposterous peg : can a buffalo be, err, to put it delicately, sexually assaulted by a human?
There’s a great deal of potential in Vinod Kapri’s debut feature. Because stranger things have happened, especially in the Khap-ridden region that ‘Tanakpur’ inhabits. But the promise, held out in a brassy, colorful beginning, is marred by the execution.
The film opens with a rustic ‘mela’, attended by Tanakpur’s `sarpanch’ ( Kapoor) and his hangers-on, which include the kohl-eyed dimwit played by Kissen. The elderly `sarpanch’s much younger wife ( Bhatt) is getting it on secretly with a `gaon-ka-chhora’ ( Bagga). When they are rumbled, all hell breaks loose. The young Lothario is strung up and accused of ‘badsalooki’ with Miss Tanakpur, the prize-winning buffalo belonging to the ‘sarpanch’.
It’s not the crudeness and crassness that is the problem, though there is much too much of it. It is not being able to make the satire bite. Om Puri plays a strangely crimson-hair-dyed corrupt cop, who’s happy to grab the ‘victim’ because of the plentiful of milk she gives. He is loud. So is everyone else. Bhatt, back in a lead role after a long gap, is made to deliver a sniffly speech which equates her status with a ‘buffalo-tied-to-a-`khoonti’.
This could have been a sharp black comedy with a strong sense of place , mining its superb absurdist premise : at one point, you are actually gifted the real meaning of that hoary expression ‘gayi bhains paani mein’. That is laugh-out-loud funny. You wish the rest of it was the same.

Proper attribution is good! BTW, you should also include a link to the source.

Alright, this is probably the first and last time I am going to tell you this. It’s up to you whether you take my suggestion or not. You should start a blog to satiate your desires to share such material and get an appreciative audience. This is not the right place, bro. Those who want to see reviews for a movie are already well aware of the proper sites to find them.

I probably would not have even bothered to reply if you shared something original, but the internet is already full of copy-pasted material. Let’s not make it worse. Over and out.

Don’t be sad, bro. Based on your journalistic (/audience-seeking) behavior, starting a blog might actually prove to be very good for you. You will fumble in the beginning, but based on the perseverance you have shown for some things, I am sure you will learn, adapt, and make it a success! https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Film: Gupt
Year of Release: 1997
Language: Hindi

It was an intense thriller, though for me only intense and less of a thriller as some %^&#(^# SoB already f’ed it for us by telling it was Isha (Kajol).
Hardly mattered as my infatuated lusty eyes were more focussed on Koirala.

There were good performances from people like Kajol, Paresh, Sada (one of fav. and now Late Mr. Amrapurkar), Om Puri, Raza Murad to name a few.

though Paresh Rawal’s character wasn’t allowed to develop much.

And epoc making movie outside of showbiz too, because the nonsensical ‘bhoot’ of pre-sold 100 200 300 crores wasn’t there
and still Rajiv Rai his oh so talented and beautiful wife Sonam had decided to leave after underworld calling it a big hit.

the story was well scripted and paced till the end and the strong performances makes it a top notch ‘must watch once’

Film: Gupt Gyan
YoR: 1974
Language: Love/Lust: evolution

[Important] this was not a pre-make or in other way related.

More like a documentary loosely woven around some story of sorts.

again, this too was a paradigm shift from what was done till now. At the age or maturity I saw, was left bit confused at some point.

Then again this was much before Animal Planet, Birds and Bees stories, wikipedia or redbus bangbus etcetera
so yeah, one had to contend with whatever was doled out.

Film: Antarmahal
YoR: 2004 or 2005 (unsure, saw it a 9-10 years back)
Language: Bangla (i watched with English subtitles)

Can not really put my interpretation in words.
Ritupaarno Ghosh was https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif a very potent and effect story teller who weaved the emotions as a visual treat.

Antarmahal follows almost the same issues that many in modern times can relate to.

Though set in 19th century Banga (its adapted but not fully based on the short story ‘Protima’ by Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay)
the issues reflected by the ingrained patriarchal mindsets are the same even today. Rape in marriage by men more then twice the age of the girl, oppression in general and condition of women and how society looks at various issues.

Even today we have high court judges expecting rape victims to go for ‘mediation’ with their assaulter.
even today we have fantasising people having secret affairs.

Well you will find some similar serious and funny stuff in Antarmahal.

Priests taking advantage of women, forced by the in-laws to seek blessings for producing ‘the heir’. [Asaram followers please don’t start off on me, i’m just stating general facts].

The big area landlord ( zameendar ) trying to get an heir from a third wife in the complicated world of honour and prestige of his name, also trying to get ‘the best’ bust of Durga made for the upcoming celebration.

This is where the secret affair with a potter bit from Protima is weaved into AntarMahal

for me, the scene of (back then) still lust worthy Rupa Ganguly enticing and distracting the priest was a very funny one.
especially in light of the circumstances and the general atmosphere in the booked theatre our group organised the screening.

some very great performances and an even better canvas of delicate film making.

Much recommended except for uni-directional prudes.

Film: Lola rennt (saw it titled as ‘Run Lola Run’)
YoR: not sure, saw it in one of the few theatres in the town that screen Intl. cinema. Pre 2000 for sure

Lang.: Achtung Baby! english subs

again, not much to put in words. Moritz Bleibtreu and Franka’s excellent portrayal of the vulnerability and other emotions is one of the strong points. The other was of-course the much copied by others, plot revision and 3 different ending bit.

one of the, can not miss to watch type of cinema.

2000 onwards movies like Snatch! , Requiem for a Dream, Scary Movie franchise really can not should not be reviewed but rather directly enjoyed and soaked in.

Exitus interruptus
German

Well this one turned out to much lacking from whatever initial expectation I had had

the story never develops to grip you and the celluloid tomfoolery tilting towards porn isn’t getting it any points either.
Anja Gebel was in this, so that is how i got to this via via. (Anja was in the Poona, 1983 segment of ‘Tears of Kali’ )

Living brain donors like OP may P L E S E stay away from such material, for their own well-being and of those around them.

==========

Korean film: Oldeuboi (Oldboy), whoever has seen this must want to do unprintable things to the makers of Zinda.

Old cllassics like Silence of the Lambs, Shining or Exorcist, Evil Dead series too need to be felt, i think. not reviewed frm the eyes of someone

Ichi the Killer
Japanese

either you watch it or just don’t watch it…

guys this one is high impact and intense stuff.

and again, hollow cranium may P L E S E stay away from such material, for their own well-being and of those around them.

actually these are just some random names that come to mind though there are many review worthy ones.

don’t know if such a cranky topic as this even merits a second look, let alone a second reply;

but curious, are there any fun lovers or fans of Kanti Shah type movies here?

Gunda (of Mithun Da), despite all its apparent ‘duh’ and ‘wtf’ moments, in my eyes it a total paisa wasool type mindless entertainment.

Ditto about David Dhawan + Govinda combo in 1990s and later.

I also enjoy the ‘many’ (now thanks to 400-500 terrestrial channels) Bhojpuri/Hindi dubs of many Tamil, Telugu or Kannada cinema thats played on various GEC or Films channels.

am I a weird person for having such diverse interests I wonder https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_rolleyes.gif

But, beware do not watch it at any cost. Watch RAAZ again instead if you are BB fan. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif
