Hi
I need some information about IELTS academic, if anyone has given it recently I would like to know their experience and clear some doubts

Tell me, what do you want to know?
1.I need to give IELTS academic with a band 7.5 required . Which is better to give UKVI or plain ielts academic.
2. In the writing section we need to type on keyboard or write on paper with pen. If so is writing in pencil allowed.
3. In India a is the speaking test on the same day or at a later date (because I will have to travel a long distance to take the test)
4. Did you find any difference in IDP and British Council tests. Which is better as I need a minimum 7.5 in each

Are you preparing for PLAB by any chance? (Since you’re confused b/w UKVI and academic exam)

1. Depends on why exactly you’re giving this exam.
2. Write on paper. Pen/Pencil both allowed.
3. Mostly speaking test is on a later or an earlier date.
4. Have appeared for both. Didn’t find any difference.

1. Not sure about UKVI, so cant comment on that
2. You need to write using pen and paper. Seen people using pencils as well.
3. It depends on the center you are selecting and the crowd over there. It usually happens for two days and mostly they will give you adjacent days if you are travelling from different location.
4. Again, as they claim that it will be the same with both of them, i opted for BC sometime back due to test dates availability.
Edit: Just now read about UKVI, It seems Academic will not be accepted anywhere for Immig/PR purposes, you need to take General IELTS here. (Correct me if i am wrong) and incase of UK, it seems they accept only :‘IELTS for UKVI’ is a UK government approved Secure English Language Test (SELT):

My IELTS score is valid till Feb 2017, might have to reappear after that
Is it Academic or General?
Mine too is valid till Feb 2017 and am still here

Academic
So are you still looking for Academic or planning to go for General this time? #Just Curious
And any thoughts on the difficulty levels of General and Academic, FYI, I got 7.5 in Academic, but i have changed my mind for General (Immig purpose)
Academic or General depends on what you want it for. If required, i’ll appear for academic.
No one in DD community has given IELTS yet
