Got call from HDFC, they are offering a Diners Black Card but saying that it will come with 5k annual charges (which won’t be waived off even if you use the card for 12L in a year).

Is it worth? Should I opt for it?
Please help me to decide.

There are many people who are dying to get this card.
It is worth only if you learn how to get the most of this card. Remember this is the only card which has the capability to earn 33.3% back as rewards from your spends if you plan them wisely

Congratulations by the way blush blush
Yes that 5k annual charges without any waiver is still worth, provided if we know how to mint out of this card. And yes, as expected, the spends need to be on the higher side to reap its benefits

They are not giving any LTF options? normally hdfc gives LTF option if you register any bill in smartpay.
And the card is worth it even if you spend just rs 30000 per annum

Dude, rewards points are 33.3% if you are smart enough. Moreover they credit 5000 rewards points for yearly renewal, 1RP=1RS

Can you please explain regarding its capacity to earn 33% as cashback?

Rs6000 annual fee is nothing vis a vis its features.
3.33% CB and Unlimited lounge visits are unbelievable
Smartbuy is kind of loot every month.
downside: With this card you tend to spend more; friends and relatives pester you(so don’t tell them anything – all they understand is 33.3% discount on FK/Amz)

Acc. to this page https://www.hdfcbankdinersclub.com/diners-club....
If 5k fees is charged then you’ll get 5k points so net annual fees is 900 only. It can also be waived acc. to link on spending 5lac in year.
Either way this card is worth the fees. Though all points can be redeemed for hotel and air tickets to get full Re.1 per point value.

Excuse me just passing through

How to earn 33.3% or use this card smartly?

@cm4444 only you know best
your lifestyle, needs and spending habits.
If you often fly around and have big spends on appliances etc (or help out family, friends) then the benefits far outweigh the 5000 fee (which anyway gets offset by the rewards).

if you are interested in maintaining a long term relationship with the card issuer/bank
then it might also help you get other premier services or PCG

If you have a relationship with HDFC already, talk to your RM. Based in your relationship value with Bank, you may get it LTF if you can open a new savings account with them.

Alternate way is to make a 7+ lakh FD and lien it against the credit card for LTF.

Based on my research so far, this card is worth taking even if not offered as LTF but one need to use it at right places.

Things seems to have changed since the last time you checked. Time to make a call to your RM.

Screen shot of the application form that shows the LTF criteria for Diners and Infinia along with other HDfC cards.  Please note that form is only useful/applicable when you have already met the eligibility criteria for the card.

I was talking about pre-approved ltf card, used to get money back card preapproved when I had a normal acc & regalia when I upgraded to preferred. I don’t think having a savings acc was mandatory earlier if the eligibility criteria was met.

Super premium card may be pre-approved but not necessarily LTF and so RM suggests the process for making then LTF.

@cm4444 Do share your updates with us when you apply for the card and also if you are able to get them to make the card LTF based on any criteria.
