Hi,

It may be a silly question, but may help people like me.

I know that the micromax, carbonn, xolo are the rebranded chinese phones. They do not manufacture it.

I was looking at the Lenovo A6000.

Is the Lenovo mobile are also rebrands of other chinese vendors ? Or Lenovo only does the R&D and production themselves ?

@hps21: Thanks for your suggestion. I will visit Shanghai soon to see the lenovo production site.

You might not be bothered about the build. But I’m coz of my past experiences.

1. My friend has a Xolo 1000 which he has bought for around 7k. Xolo is a rebranded chinese crap. Not their own production.
He put it down while charging and the charging port has been damaged. We took it to the service centre at bangalore. They told they want 4000 rupees to change the usb port. They would have to import this item from china and fix it so.
2. My another friend’s Micromax Doodle bought for 7k, display is broken. Service centre asks 8000 to change the display.

Bottom line is Those indian companies who buys chinese cheap mobiles and selling in inda who will not have spare parts for their items. Coz they do not do R&D and production themselves. Their service centres will import the item from their chinese vendor on demand. So you will have to pay the double charge including importing charges. And the process will take atleast 1 month to get it repaired.

Another experience. Samsung S duos, the charging port has been damaged as the pin has inserted upside down.
I have given to local shop. They replaced the usb port for 250 rupees.

I liked the specs and design of lenovo. So I wanted to know the origin of the item before buying. If lenovo is doing the research and developement and they manufacture themselves, they will be having a very good after sales support too.

Bro, I have no stamina to read your full message. Yureka is from Micromax, being an Indian company. But its manufacturing in china and you see its the no.1 demanding phone in india…

What I know from Past 10 years, is that In electronics, what chinese can make in 1000 buck, indians will make same in 4000 bucks…

You should understand one thing clearly. Yureka is not micromax mobile. It’s a chinese mobile. MMX bought it and changed name.. selling it here.
Ppl who run behind mmx are not looking at it.
I suggest Xiaomi than Yureka as it’s built by Xioami.

Redmi 1s have also heating issue earlier. Even today, many have issues with it. However, I also did not like Yureka. Its very cheap looking phone. Xiaomi phones look very premium phones…..Mi3 is very good phone and can be compared to HTC One…

Even Redmi has lot of software issues earlier.
I heard majoriy are fixed after the software update.
The Build quality of Mi3 was awesome.

That’s something I noted with A6000 also, it’s also very thin and stylish.
I liked it’s chinese version also Lenovo K3 Lemon.

lenovo phones are good in terms of design and pricing ..

BUT the Lenovo skin is too heavy (even heavier than Xiaomi) and it too doesnt have an app drawer !! SO RAM management issues will prevail in A6000 model since it has 1 gb RAM and the camera software does lots of Post processing thus making images very heavy in size(13mp size is 6mb) and blurry !!

PS: From a Lenovo Vibe Z user which has 2gb RAM married to Snapdragon 800 processor still RAM management is an issue sometimes and so does the camera issue .. else all good

Hope that helps https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

You took Samsung phone to local shop but you took xolo and that other brand to authorised service centre, why? Why couldn’t you find price quote of Samsung s in their authorised store? Why couldn’t you compare all these 3 models on same platform?

After reading all of this I can’t digest the fact that you took Xolo 1000 & Micromax Doodle to there respective service center where as Samsung S duos to a local shop., and compared there service. If you would have took Samsung S duos to its service center or Xolo 1000 & Micromax Doodle to a local shop and then compared there service, it would have been fair to judge there after sells support. Ps. I am not here to defend any one(i.e xolo, Micromax or samsung)

First of all one thing, The xolo 1000, MMX doodle & s duos .. All 3 are not mine.
I use Iphone 6 which given by my company and Nokia E71 for personnel uses.

The xolo 1000 and MMX doodle were taken to local service centres all over in Bangalore and they told they can’t get spares for these kind of brands. So we took it to authorised service centres.
Everyone knows the authorised centres are looting people. I hope it wouldn’t be the case in your city that authorised centres charges less than local shops. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif You are lucky if that’s the case.
We given the s duos to local shop and repaired for 250 rupees. Means the spares are easily available at cheap price outside also.
If we would have taken the s duos to authorised centre, they might have charged 1000 bucks for this small repair.

Well Xolo is the only company in my knowledge who has clearly published the cost of spares and service charges on their website which i feel are mostly reasonable… And i found their service (in Gurgaon) up to the mark… Their CEO or whosoever he is, promptly replies to emails if u have any issue and ensures your issue is taken care of….
I have used services of Samsung(pathetic), Sony( it was overall nice), Apple(that’s a different league), MMX (service sucks) , Motorola(service was Nice) and many more… Nowadays spares aren’t a issue… earlier it was…

*used lenovo A6000 today or 15 odd mins .. *

when I started saw 3 apps minimised(petty ones like whatsapp etc) and FREE RAM was just 118mb !!

Cleared Ram and gt 370 mb free ,although had only whatsapp and other basic 2-3 apps installed and none opened in background !!!

*Used the camera and images do appear blurry and heavy in size !! *

Lenovo camera app does lots of post processing and damages the images !!

*And with FLASH the images seems like a Negative picture/ Oversaturated or totally artificial and highly ruined !! *

*The build was good ,looks were sexy and it was lightweight *

BUT since it has dual speakers so the phone back body part vibrates too much at little high volume too !!

Overall a 3rd class phone (peronal opinion) https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif
