Easiest Way to Save Thousands of Rupees on Great Indian Festival Sale!

Do you feel you saved thousands of rupees in the Great Indian Festival Sale? Or if you’re a Flipkart fan, more like tens of thousands of rupees in the Big Billion Day Sale? You probably paid for all using credit cards, you will now pay for the credit card with Cred and earn thousands of points there? And probably save a few more thousands by redeeming those points?

An honest disclaimer, I myself have spent quite a bit on all the sales currently going on, bought lots of useful items(definitely needed), some might need at some point and some definitely not needed but would be fun to have items.

Now, all the products which you bought will fall under lots of useful items(definitely needed) under you waste your time thinking 15 minutes more about it, go for it, give it a thought, pause for a second, check your orders and see the list of all the ordered items once again.

After you did that, you will feel maybe some of them items will fall into might need at some point category.
Maybe if you spend a few more minutes thinking, you will realize maybe, just in case, some products could by mistake fall in the third category.

Now let’s do a quick vote, if you were at an offline store with same amount of cash in your hand, the seller showed you all these products and you were supposed to pay for all of them in cash at the same price, would you still pay for them?

I’m in no way suggesting that the purchases you made weren’t good enough, they are all awesome and you would definitely hopefully need all those products in some point of your life. But what we fail to realize the conspiracy(or maybe should I call it a strategy) behind which we run in order to save more, we end up spending way more than we should have.

While our fathers, grandfathers could save 80% of their incomes, we struggle in saving 10%-20% which is very essential, not just in case of an urgent need but heck, even if you could go to the beaches of Singapore tomorrow next week and had enough money to book it right away, how cool would that be?

Coming back to the point, the gamification of money makes you feel like the more you spend, the more you will save, but the points which you get on Cred will be redeemed for a voucher that will ask you to spend even more to the merchant. The cashback which you get will be used in buying more things by paying way more than the amount of cashback which you earned.

So, the easiest way to save lots of money in sales? Buy less and buy wisely. ~~

True, but I don’t have Cred or credit cards and still buy a lot of junk. Cutting down from a few months now.

Exactly. You get the point, Cred is just one of the examples. Initially, I spent more to get points in credit card. Then even more to get more points in Cred.

But today, when I was browsing Cred, I realized every deal redemption required me to pay more and then it hit me.

Similar thing happened to me.
I went on to complete the Paytm offline UPI offer and wallet offer, realised at the end, I wasted more than what I should have. And that too for what? Useless Vouchers and ₹5 cashback?

I see negative thinking in you.
I had just 30k in my credit card limit. I have now made 1lakh+++ in 6months just by rotating the entire limit daily.
You have to be smart. Actually flopkart and Amazon are putting a lot of investment into these sales just to capture market leader position. In that they are loosing in crores.

Just think if u have money to invest. You can buy some phones may be 10k range.some 40-50 phones and then just directly sell to local shop.
You will definitely get minimum 1k per phone.plus credit card rewards minimum 20k and repayment rewards may be 2-3k.
Totally you have got a minimum of 25k-30k.

Now say that are you loosing money???

Good post and I have been following this for ages now.
I always say that instead of saving 10% (or any discount) on spending something you don’t need, try to avoid buying it to save 100% of that amount!

True. Liked it VU

Also MRP is a myth and we think we saved a lot in form of cashbacks and discounts which makes us spend even more.

This is a sensible post and I agree completely on the essence.
I keep tracking of all my “savings” earned by deals and offers on apps/banks/cards etc. however I do not count the saving by spending on something that could have been avoided..like swiggy, online shopping etc. All these are luxuries bought at better prices.
I count saving on the essential spends only like utility bills, groceries, petrol.

Exactly. That’s what I’ve been been doing too. Counting the few thousands I saved but never counted the lacs which we spent.
