eBay seller account charges info

I am looking forward to open an eBay seller account and would be glad if someone could enlighten me on the charges incurred after selling any item on eBay.

I have gone through the below page:
http://pages.ebay.in/help/account/fee...ml
And as far as I could understand except the Insertion and Paisapay handling charges, they will be charging the selling fees which are subject to a 12% Service Tax and 3% Cess (Edu: 2% + Sec & High Edu: 1%) thereon, where applicable.
So considering I’m selling a product worth Rs 10000, I’ll be paying an amount of approx Rs 1500 as taxes and all.
Please help me if I’m wrong with this calculation. Or if anyone could provide me more info on this then I’ll be obliged.

Forget all that, how are you planning to save yourself from scammers? People might say that ebay is a big cheat but seasoned scammers very well know how to scam the ebay system and thus the sellers. Ebay always gives preference to the buyers over the sellers. Consider selling only if you are importing lot of those wholesale stuff for cheap from china and selling them here. Otherwise reconsider your decision.

Inputs only from what I have read (and to some extent personal experience of how badly ebay handles buyer requests) else I really dont know if there is really any seller protection. I have raised claims a couple of times because of sellers sending different items (maybe the sellers were trying to scam me but they were only a few 100s) and ebay has asked me to keep the item as well as refunded my money. In any case the seller would be at loss and anyone can do this to a genuine seller too. So if you sell some 100 numbers of the product and even if 10-15 of them scam/item broken/lost the renaming sales should keep you in profit. So plan accordingly.

Service tax is on ebay commission, not on product price.
if ebay commission is rs100 for selling an item of rs10000, then Service tax is rs12 @12%ST

Whether its eBay or any other Ecom platform .
Service tax will apply only on service not on good . so in eBay service tax will be charged on commission you give to eBay for availing their service .
And if you thinking about VAT then too its not that much you have to pay vat only on profit you added in your purchase price . you can claim vat paid to your distributor in form of Input tax credit .
.
And better to start with amazon SD fk with their fulfillment tag so that no one can dupe you . later start with eBay too .
If you are making it a business then must take pan number and tin number . in metro cities vat rules are strict .
