My colleague got a job in other company.

Employer asking to sign a bond (2 years). If he quits before 2 years, then he need to pay 3 months salary.

Does anyone have any idea on how official is that. Can anyone force someone to work???

I dont have any idea about bank jobs but all these top tier companies require an agreement of min 2 years like TCS, infosys so n so..
I remember few of my friends paying like around 50000-100000 when they decided to break the agreement
So, if we are looking for a temporary job or the company is not so great then its best to skip those jobs which require 1 or 2 years agreement

For Pvt companies generally you had to pay the bond amount only if you want RELIEVING LETTER. If you didn’t want it., you can simply send an email and stop going to wok. (Generally it’s called ABSCOND).

I never heard any company threatening employee to comeback to work unless it’s some low level one

@sunnie A sensible answer has already been given by @mackmad above. I will add that such agreements are indeed “legal”, but they can be contested in a court of law if it comes to that.

I think, employer cannot force anyone to work for them.

Not for lifetime just for 2 years usually

mainley bcuz they spend a lot on training learning on newbie employee who doesnt know anything which cost a lot to company / institute

they have every right to force u to work for sometimes

else sabhi training lenge kaam sikhenge aur dusre company m bhag jayenge

Since employers are into business, and they might lose at any point of time. But they cannot force any employee to work for specific duration (not even a year or two)

Bonded labour, in essence, is outlawed as per the Bonded Labour System (abolition) Act, 1976. This means there can be no valid contract that compels employees to stick for a particular tenure in the company.

actually what i have understood there are pretty simple ways in which these contracts can be breached without conflicting with any party when it comes to big companies . However in case of smaller companies this can become an issue . And companies do not coin it as a pure labour contract . They say that they have invested a whole lot of money in imparting world class training and this period is only to cover the cost .
