I use GMAIL with out any dot in my account name.
I receive Emails which are intended to me and also some of emails which are intended to some one else.
For example, [email protected] is my Email ID.
But I receive emails of the accounts with (.) dot, [email protected], [email protected]
My query is, do they receive my emails also in their mail box?
I mean, the Eamil ID users [email protected] OR [email protected] also receive emails which are intended to the id [email protected] ?
I never tested it, hence asking this query.
PS: None of the email ids above are used by me, they are just example.

Does Google let users sign up new accounts by using the dot trick?
I think it only works for other sites where you enter your Gmail Id
no they cant receive your mail Bec they can’t create a new email id using “.” on Gmail Atleast.
better use alias feature of outlook.
If you have [email protected] another person cant create id with [email protected]
That’s not true.
I personally use gmail account with a dot in the name. Google allowed it back when I created it, not sure if it does now.
@ramadesidime Every email id is Unique in nature and just because emails intended to you also have [email protected] as a recipient doesn’t mean they also get to see other emails of yours. The owners of those email accounts (with dot) at most get only those emails in which they are also recipients along with you. These emails are generally sent by spammers who pick up (or buy) your email from somewhere else and market their own products, services and all shit. I also get lot of such crap.
Rest assured your other emails are safe with you.
They don’t have their gmail account with dot in your email address. Means.. there is no other gmail account associated with [email protected] email address or [email protected]. Only yours, so nobody except you and Google (of course) can read your emails. Don’t worry.
Just now , I tested it.
1)The original Eamil account will receive all mails which are sent to ANY dot email ID.
Means, [email protected] will receive all mails. The DOT email accounts will not receive it.
2)I just created a new email with DOT. That means, we can create the email account but, it will not receive Emails.
3)You can not login into the DOT email. It points to the email ID/password without DOT.
So, DOT will not effect the original Email IDs.
[email protected] and [email protected] are same address.
So if you send a mail at [email protected] it will land into [email protected]
It is applicable to GMail accounts, however, if you are using Google Suite ( which runs on GMail ) it will not work.
Apart from this, Google offers a very good feature of aliasing with + sign.
It ignores everything after + sign.
For example, if you your email ID is [email protected] and if you send a mail at [email protected] … mails will reach to [email protected]
I didn’t knew the aliasing thing .. will try that!
Thank you
[email protected], [email protected], [email protected] are all same email addresses. A dot makes no difference. You send email to any one of these, it will reach same inbox.
ye to mujhe 2008 me pata chal gaya tha
Dots don’t matter in Gmail addresses
If someone accidentally adds dots to your address when emailing you, you’ll still get that email.
For example, if your email is [email protected], you own all dotted versions of your address:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
Note: If you use Gmail through work, school, or other organization (like yourdomain.com or yourschool.edu), dots do change your address. To change the dots in your username, contact your admin.
No one else gets your emails
No one can take your username
Your Gmail address is unique. If anyone tries to create a Gmail account with a dotted version of your username, they’ll get an error saying the username is already taken.
For example, if your address is [email protected], no one can sign up for [email protected].
No one sees your mail
Your account is still private and secure. Emails sent to any dotted version of your address will only go to you.
For example, [email protected] and [email protected] are the same address and go to one inbox.
What to do if you get someone else’s mail
Adding dots doesn’t change your address, so dots aren’t why you got someone else’s mail. Instead, the sender probably mistyped or forgot the correct address.
For example, if someone meant to email [email protected] but typed [email protected], the message went to you because you own [email protected].
