Even Google maps fail in India (specially in streets, flyover, men at work, etc)

Google relies on many Indian and local suryers, cartographers, govt. resources and companies like Map my India to create a most accurate map possible apart from satellite images. But they don’t update or rectify their maps regularly… And it’s a prime example of their Screw up.

Rite bro…but these are such big companies they should regularly update their database on the basis of the new information collected…so that users don’t have to face problems….

Right.
1) They need to be informed first. If u have Google maps app then u can press Add a missing place or send them Feedback . So that then they can  review  and correct their mistake.

You need to know something. It is done by locals for a purpose. They themselves put it over the google maps.

The article says a different thing.. though very true! People will still explore places and stuff no matter how much smartphone tourism will be there.

+1, I regularly give suggestions and suggest corrections wherever required. Google also reward you by levelling you up. Not only missing place you can suggest, place doesn’t exist, or shifted to new place, facilities available on the site, adding picture etc.

True. I have heard that but I don’t do it regularly, though I should.

I was there at December’18 . And visited baga many times throughout maps and didn’t get any problems . Once i go through Arpora and second time Mapusa. and Google maps is getting very helpful because at nighttime you hardly find local public on road even in December . And second it gives you perfect idea to fuel your vehicle while leaving your room at morning smiley

Right brother .
But
adding a place is not as easy .
as per my experience, first Google moderate your edit in primary process . Then it goes in map temporarily  for review of local(here goaen) local google guides . and they have two options yes/no/don’t know for your edit . And funny thing is that if he has no knowledge of that edit he can submit  no(because don’t know didn’t gives point many times) that thing and your edit cant be published .
And i know some information about that because i am ahttps://cdn0.desidime.com/attachments/photos/552906/original/IMG_20190218_160414.jpg?1550486952

You’re right. Infact this  is a problem with almost any crowd sourced information platform, even Desidime. User’s ( people’s) opinions… and number of votes/ opinions matters most. Crowd sourcing is great but not perfect.

Many people didn’t know how to reach out to Google about corrections or improvements needed in maps. Now they can atleast take some initiative.

My personal experience: I had called a shop  last year (I  found phone no. on Google search) but a elderly person received and politely said this is wrong number. He had been getting hundreds of such calls every week. This 70 year old gentleman didn’t know how to fix it. So I edited that wrong info. That was the least I could do.

I know it is not directly related to it, just wanted to give you an idea.
