At least here in Karnataka they asked IT companies to work from home till July end last week itself. I guess some union minister too told the same, so no big contacts required to know what is obvious. I don’t know why people have already started assuming that Corona is gone

Should be till October end, that’s minimal.
By then companies will not need this much space in office, and would rethink about real-estate leases. Very soon everyone will be allowed to wfh always unless if they need hand on in labs.

One of my ex-managers who was kinda close to me told that companies have strong reasons to deny working from home even though it might be more productive and saves resources in many cases.

Many clients don’t provide an option for the work to be done outside of their offshore vendor locations. So for such employees it is out of question during normal times. Also WFH encourages stock trading among employees. Employees get more time to look for better opportunities and interview for positions. At least these were few of the reasons he said many managers agreed upon.

It might have some impact, but a lot of companies will go back to their old ways.

Sometimes i see such threads and think that either DD is full of IT sector employees or there are only IT sector employees in India. There’s an India and world beyond IT sector and lot of them are related to administration, accounting, production and other fields too so WFH is practically impossible in such cases specially in MSMEs.

Bro, agree to most of your statement but productivity is not increasing.

Even if we leave other sectors as @GoogleCA has mentioned, IT sector in itself is much lesser productive at home.
