Have you heard about Zoomcar and Hertz? They are expensive!

Yes I have heard, I need for sightseeing etc..

Suggested vehicle- Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV, Toyota Etios.

EDIT: I hope you are aware about these :
1. Chandigarh-kalka-shimla highway is undergoing massive road construction work due to FOUR laning work going on. The road being mountainous, it leads to traffic jams and not so enjoyable driving. Conclusion : Too tiring and time taking to reach Shimla driving on your own.
Alternate: Kalka-Shimla toy train (best)
Volvo/Merc bus from Himachal roadways (Himsuta) or Haryana Roadways.

2. Avoid Shimla and even Manali (though roads are better and you don’t need to go to shimla on the way, take Bilaspur route) and go to Dalhousie!

Sure then go ahead and book a sturdy car with higher ground clearance if you wish to explore adventures at these places!
They have good condition cars but you should thoroughly check atleast a day before your final departure the car which you are getting.
