help needed from hp pavilion laptop user

I have HP Pavilion 15-n020AX laptop and it has two ram slots….when ram is in slot 2 (as per cpu-z) and other slot empty…display comes but when same ram is in slot 1 (as per cpu-z) and other slot empty….. no display comes. Can someone check his/her hp pavilion laptop and confirm if laptop is designed this way.

Btw , when ram are there in both the slots …display comes and total ram shown according to individual ram capacity.
