I tried switching on my cpu today morning but it is not starting up. There is no power in the cpu. Even the power light above start up switch is not getting lit. I think the psu is dead. I had got the stock psu (hcl) replaced with an intex one 2 years back.
Any suggestions please.

@bonny42 Look at the following post: http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...

I tested the smps as per wiki instructions, the smps is not working.
It is an intex AC 230V smps.
I am thinking to buy a corsair smps this time. Can u suggest one plz.
I can buy from snapdeal today using the new user 25% offer.
But actually I don’t know which one would fit my cpu cabinet.
Pc specs – Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L motherboard
2 gb ddr2 ram
Intel core 2 duo processor running Windows 7.

Based on what you have mentioned, it doesn’t seem like you are using a dedicated graphics card. So a 400 W – 500 W SMPS would do the job just fine for you. I am glad that you mentioned your cabinet size because not having a full or mid sized case would indeed limit your options. Since your motherboard is micro-ATX, your assembler might have used a mini-tower cabinet. Most PSUs are okay for a mini-tower case. Do check the dimensions, especially the length, of the PSU on the manufacturer’s website to make sure your computer cabinet can accommodate it.

As for suggesting specific models, I am sorry but I don’t do that because of prior bad experiences (on other forums). As long as you buy a Corsair, OCZ, or Seasonic PSU, you would be okay.

Thank you sir for your help.
I am going for the corsair vs 450.
Only confusion is that the one listed on snapdeal has mentioned UK in its description, I am unable to understand what it means.
What’s the difference between these two? –

The one available on Amazon is also the UK-version (check “item model number” listed under the product information). Pictures posted by reviewers on Amazon confirm the same (VS written in orange instead of green).

As for what is the UK-version or why it’s better, I don’t want to repeat or regurgitate already posted info so please check the “most helpful” review by the user Tulsi on Snapdeal. http://www.snapdeal.com/product/corsair-vs450-c...

Hope this was helpful. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif
