Hello everyone, there are 3-4 lizards crawling on the walls inside my house. I have a serious lizard phobia, its like if a lizard is in my room then I won’t go into that room ever unless the lizard is out of my room. I have even spent night awake because of the fear. I know for many people it would sound crazy but yes I fear lizard. My whole family makes fun of me and I accept it. Does anyone has any idea how to rid of lizard, i googled it but couldnt find any sureshot solution

I have a peacock feather on one wall at home. Lizard don’t crawl anywhere near that. Peacocks are known to eat such reptiles, may be that’s why.

I also noticed that when there are no mosquitos in house, they usually disappear after a while because mosquitos are their primary food. No food, no point in staying.

You are not alone, lot of people fear lizards, including me

so according to you, the peacock feather would do the trick, I have put eggshells, 4 peacock feathers around the danger zone and there is still no effect whatsoever on these satanic creatures

My mom say this story all the time about me grabbing a lizard by hand when I was a child, took it to my dad to show him what I caught, the lizard broke the tail by itself and I cried the whole night thinking I had killed that lizard.

Now, If I see that a lizard gets inside the bedroom, I switch on the AC and let the AC cool the room to its lowest temperature. Then I search the whole wall and I can easily grab it and throw it out the window. It won’t struggle or try to hide at all. It will be like it’s frozen. You can also try it. Since you are not comfortable with touching it, after it stops moving because of the cold, you can ask your family member to throw it away.

Don’t feel ashamed of a lizard phobia. The moment I see a snake, even if it’s not venomous, even if it only looks like a snake, I will look like this https://cdn0.desidime.com/attachments/photos/613407/medium/66134804gN1C6G.gif

They are actually called house geckos not lizard 🦎

1. Get rid of insects as much as possible including ants.

2. Egg shell trick only might work if eggs outer layer is dark brown. Which creates contrast. Some say geckos think egg shells might be predictors with open mouth.

3. If all else fails try sticky traps.

Check this website.
https://www.pestwiki.com/natural-ways-control-g...

Btw I think you should also try to get over your phobia. Try to look at them from far get as close as possible until you can’t do it anymore. I know someone who had extreme phobia of this creature but now less afraid.

  • Cool fact they can change their colour shade and pattern according to their environments ( to camouflage) but only in black and white. They are harmless to human. Though their saliva contains very high concentration of deadly bacteria like salmonella.

So… Don’t get licked.

Egg shells and peacock feathers won’t work. Tried a lot and failed. Only thing is to kill them by sprays or by hitting them. Other way is to turn off lights and keep the room dark, as light attracts insects and hence lizards hunt their prey near lights.

Same situation here. I’ve lost count how many nights i have spent sleepless because of these utterly disgusting pieces of shites. Everything was tried, from egg shells, to peacock feather (real one) and whatnot. Then my mother started to kill the small ones, just hit them hard with coconut jhadu and they die after one or two hits. But that’s a disgusting process. I can’t even stand looking at them alive, let alone a dead one. Due to these killings for over a decade now, i see the number has reduced significantly in my household, but still even after reduction the number remains pretty big. I wish i could just kill them, the big ones, and be done with it. You can empty a full bottle of Hit or Baygon but the big ones still won’t die. This is the reason why i went back to sleep inside mosquito nets, at least those mofos can’t reach me. It’s like a dream for me to live in a world lizard free.

Do let me know if you find a way to get rid of them for good.

I had this problem in past and I can assure that Eggshell is useless, When I had placed them lizards use to wander around it without any kind of disruption, so its a myth…. secondly rightly suggested by someone here that getting rid of insects at first place can minimise their invasion is correct. HIT worked for us, and the most effective way to get rid of them is to stop them entering your house! HOW? first hunt those which are inside, kill, poison them etc …Next put mosquito net/jaali to windows grill and fill up the big cracks with cement which are prone to hiding place for them so that don’t enter from them. After this secure your place by putting some naphthalene balls on loft, under bed, bathroom vent etc. Good luck

In your bedroom/study-room, just hang one Godrej Aer Pocket and keep replacing it from time to time and see the magic how lizards stop coming inside that room. Try this and let me know the results. Forget eggshell, mor-pankh, laxmanrekha…
If you want to remove them permanently, just goad it with a stick to a spot where you can spray HIT. When sprayed upon, either it will faint or become black-n-blue & die. So do the needful accordingly.

this might actually work
my story-
I used to sleep inside mosquito net
mosquito used to stick outside the net and so lizard also sometimes used to come outside the net to eat them
when I first saw this I was shit scared
I tried many things including kicking them with many things to keep them away but they have now found free buffet
so after few unsuccessful attempts of scaring them away
I kept a deo with me to spray to them if they again visits
but I noticed ever since I used to keep deo lizards never cam only
so found out they are repelled by that smell of deo

Even im in the same category, i hate crawling creatures

Some tips from my side for long term (bit costly though)
1. Paint inside your house if it has been old
2. Keep mosquito nets for all windows and main doors so that no fly enters your home

Hunting Tips
3. Take a Hit and spray on it until it falls down and be ready with your broom to hit hard until it dies, throw it outside
4. Remember to keep an eye on it until you get rid of it, if u move for sec then it will disappear and u need to check each corner for it
5. I killed lots of them (lots of sweat and hit smell, need to clean the house and bath) and then i moved to first and 2nd option. Now im Happy
6. Dont forget to wear double folded kerchief to your nose, so that you wont collapse if you hit lots of HIT spray

Stay Safe.

Fact: Lizards are cold blooded creatures and thus they require warm/hot climate to function. This is why they disappear in winters as they go into hibernation.

Confession: I’m Lizardophobic. I love winters. stuck_out_tongue
