Doddakoppalu Kariyappa Ravikumar (10 June 1979 – 16 March 2015), known commonly as D. K. Ravi, was an Indian civil servant and officer in the Karnataka cadre of Indian Administrative Service. Of the 2009 batch, he came into public view after launching a drive against land encroachment and sand mining within his jurisdiction of Kolar district, in his capacity as a district collector. Following fourteen months of service, he was transferred to Bangalore by the government of Karnataka as Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement) in October 2014. After his five months in service involving tax raids on major builders, he was found dead at his residence in Bangalore on 16 March 2015, under mysterious circumstances.

I feel very Sad
Congress ruled Karnataka Home Minister and the Police Commissioner have already declared it is only a suicide. CM is also approving it. What else you want?
Just saw this comment and i feel that he was collecting tax for wrong people. What is the purpose of collecting tax if we, the common people, don’t get a single service from government.
^ He was a very good person. He was so good that, whole Kolar District had a Bandh when he was transferred to Bangalore from Kolar! They never wanted him to leave Kolar because he did good things in a very less time.
I don’t feel he is so coward to suicide! I don’t get this. I don’t get why good people like these who are really needed to India, die so early!

Yes, I read about him and i agree that he was an amazing person and i shouldn’t say non-topic things now. I am not saying he committed suicide but this is what government records will officially declare .
My comment was related to the general news prevalent these days: Government is implementing better Tax collecting solutions. Tax collection is getting more digitally advanced i.e. Government is only concerned with collected tax. When will they improve the services for which they collect tax?
Rest IN Peace both D K RAVI n CONGRESS govt….

May be actually he Got threat call that we will kill your Child and Wife, if you do not commit suicide !

We should probably vote down this thread because those smileys don’t look good after “Found Dead in Bengaluru ! SAD! :’(”

Ravi had held the post of Deputy commissioner of Kolar district during August 2013 till his transfer in October 2014, allegedly under pressure from some local elected representatives. Large number of people staged dharnas in Kolar to protest, following his transfer orders as deputy commissioner.

Ravikumar was posted as the Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement) by the government on 29 October 2014 in Bangalore. Following this, he prepared a list of top-50 tax defaulters and set a target of INR1000 crore (US$160 million) tax collection from the defaulters. He began raids in Bangalore and expanded to places across Karnataka raiding business groups such as Embassy, Rajesh Exports, Shubh Jewellers, RMZ Institution, Prestige Group, Raheja Developers and Mantri Developers, and had reportedly collected over INR138 crore (US$22 million) in the first two weeks.
