I have applied for this card. I am already holding HSBC Visa Platinum. I will let you know guys if they allow a single person to hold two HSBC credit cards. I was checking the rewards catalogue. I did not find it interesting at all and there is some massive devaluation while redeeming them. Can we use the reward points for cash credit? Indusind Iconia Visa and Amex MRCC is nice in this regards.

3x rewards points for this card is not that attractive when you see the rewards collection. I think at max we get the benefit of 1.5% in this card. Nonetheless the joining benefits are lucrative. HSBC also runs good offers for making supplementary cards. I had received 500 rs amazon voucher for every supplementary card.

I am not sure if the offer is still running. Please call the HSBC credit card department and check with them. 1860 108 7788 or 1860 500 2277 or 040 – 67173402 \ 080 – 49089632

You can upgrade existing HSBC Visa Platinum to HSBC Smart Value Credit Card. You cannot hold both the credit card at one point of a time. So I decided to skip upgrading to it.

Why you skip? Apart from joining cashback, platinum card has no value.

I did not switch to the HSBC Smart Value variant as the Platinum card have no annual fees. Moreover I do not use HSBC card much as the reward point program sucks big time.

I find the clear trip vouchers useless as they can only be used for booking a round trip flight. Moreover, you will get 2x 1000 rs clear trip voucher and only one can be used in a single transaction. I do not see any major benefit of switching to this new HSBC card because of my current usage. Check below about it.

BTW you can get 250 rs amazon voucher for every supplementary card you make and do a first transaction. See the point 7. https://www.hsbc.co.in/1/PA_ES_Content_Mgmt/con...

I like to use Amex MRCC and Indusind Iconia Visa most of the time as that allows me to convert the reward points into cash credit.

My favorite is Amex MRCC as making 18K points is easy. You can also load the wallet 4 times in a month if you want to make 1000 points every month. Amex also gives you bonus points for making supplementary cards. I am using their bill pay to pay the electricity bills and get good cashback.

Indusind Iconia is also good as when you cross 500 points then you can request for converting those 500 points into 500 rs without any charge.

I like to SBI Simply Click card for renewing my big bazaar profit club cards and get Amazon Vouchers. SBI Prime is a better option though for renewing big bazaar profit club cards as you can get 5% cashback for renewing them straight on your bday.

and rest of my use (flipkart, international payments) is attached to Diners Club Miles. Diners is also giving 10x rewards point for international payments including paypal but Diners Club Miles have a limit of 5000 rewards point maximum for a month.

Edit: Just noticed that Smart Value card is free in a sense as that you will receive a amazon voucher if annual fees are charged (less than 50k transaction in a year). I will ask the CC team tomorrow if the existing supplementary cards (under Visa Platinum) will be eligible to receive a amazon voucher as they are not new cards and will be upgraded card.

Yes. 1:1 ratio.

You will get 1.5 reward points for spending 100 rs on a week day and 2 reward points for spending 100 rs on weekend. So it translates to 1.5% to 2% reward depending upon the day.
